We anticipate that at least 700,000 will give up in the run-up to the law being implemented and more will follow next summer when the ban comes into place.

en To everyone who plans to give up smoking tonight, I wish the very best of luck. But I have a New Year's resolution, too, for those of us smokers who intend to carry on with our filthy habit. We should resolve to stop being ashamed of our pleasures, and to make our protests heard.
