The football players brought a toughness to our team, especially to our drills in practice. We used to think that our drills were pretty tough but with these guys, we found that we could make them even tougher.

It felt pretty good. We've played it pretty safe. It'll be interesting to see when we get the whole team back together and do more contact drills.

That team (Green Bay) was a little bit more of a star team. We had more than a couple guys that were really pretty well known at their positions throughout the country and went to Pro Bowls. Our team now, even though we are fortunate to have a number of players go to the Pro Bowl, is really a team in the truest sense of the word.

I asked my entire team and got their opinion on it. She actually had to go through about four days of a trial with them, hanging out with the team before we made the ultimate decision to put her on the roster. We didn't want to add someone just to add someone. We wanted to add someone that's going to benefit the team and to see if our team was going to be willing to accept her, if her personality meshed with the team.

We've got a lot of players coming back, and our (junior varsity) finished 20-0 and our freshman team finished 17-2. There's going to be a lot of competition and it's going to be interesting to see who comes back quicker and more athletic because that's what we need to accomplish to take the next step forward as a team. Honestly, I think don't be rushed. That would only make him worse. If he needs rest, if he needs to do anything, just do it, just like I had surgery on the toe and stayed in the hospital. I wanted to go back to the court to help the team. But at that time, the only thing I could do to help the team was (to understand) it's how hard you work on it to rehab your body.

In those days, you graduated from high school and either got married or went on to college. On our honeymoon, we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Memphis before going to Hot Springs, Ark. That hotel room was only $6 or $7 back then.

It was an interesting experience for us. We had a lot of young players who hadn't played at the college level before, and it was definitely something different for them. We also did a lot of bonding as a team and that really helped us because a big majority of our starters were new.

Our team came back and stayed together and that game helped us get better. They really played well against us with a small lineup in the Rupp affair.

[Boston College is] not a [pushover] at all. Potentially, we could have been that team [this season], you never know. This conference is very tough. I know their players, and our players know their players. This is a team that was probably just as good as we were in the fall. There won't be an easy point played. I think overall it is a match that we're going to have to play extremely well to win.

It was a huge surprise when (national team coach Jenny Lang Ping) asked me to come and train. I wasn't really out there with the impression that I was going to make any training team.

Well, we made it interesting. A lot more interesting than we needed to after being up by 20. That's the danger of the Milwaukee team is their three-point shooting ability and tonight we just couldn't keep T.J. Ford in front of us. He just went wherever he wanted to go with the basketball and created all kinds of scoring opportunities for their team. If it wasn't for him, I think it would have been a much easier game.

We've played a tough schedule, including six teams in the top 20. South Laurel is a good team. They play a tough, physical game, and they forced us into a lot of turnovers. But I like my team. Southwestern and Lincoln County are rated above us. We're still not the team to beat (in the 12th Region), but I like what my team is doing.
