en If most teams are down by nine points midway through the fourth quarter, they would have just checked out and I loved the way our girls persevered and battled back to get in the game. They did all that training all summer.

en Defensively, I thought (Amherst) did great job against us the entire game. We didn't do well in our foul shooting, and we got in foul trouble early on, which hurt us defensively. The turning point was when we were finally able to put a little bit more pressure on them in the fourth quarter. But, overall, what an exciting way to end a game.

en All the girls did a great job of stopping dribble penetration. Not just fronting the high and low post, but the back doors too.

en Many girls intentionally perpetrate acts of aggression that go unseen by parents and teachers. Because they are so skilled at being subtle, girls can communicate a thousand words without saying anything. By rolling their eyes or turning their back on another girl, they can shut that other person out without being noticed by anyone else - even a concerned parent or teacher.

en Substance use among our adolescent girls [is] alarming. Girls understand the risks associated with drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. But that doesn't appear to be stopping them from using.

en I told the girls we have to play better than we did tonight in the tournament or we could be in trouble. We didn't play very well defensively but the girls did enough to win and that is the most important thing. Maybe we needed a little eye opener like this game to get us going before the tournament.
