en I would like to publicly thank (Team USA manager) Buck Martinez for the opportunity I had today. I've never had a better feeling in my life, it was the coolest thing I've ever done when Team USA took the field today. I can't even tell you what went through my head.

en I've never had a better feeling in my life. It was the coolest thing I have ever done when Team USA took the field today. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic.

en I've never had a better feeling in my life. When Team USA took the field, it was the coolest thing I have ever done. I can't even tell you what went through my head. It didn't hit me until then. The national anthem, just putting on the uniform and being down in the bullpen, was just awesome.

en It's very exciting to walk in today and see all the guys come together. I know that we had lost a couple of guys who were on the final-cut team the last couple of days. They didn't feel that they were ready to participate. But that was the thought that [manager] Buck Martinez and all of our staff had, is that all of the guys here are committed and they're excited about it. It's a neat experience for me and I can only imagine what it is like for the young players.

en Well, after I talked to [U.S. manager] Buck Martinez, I've got to be able to make this team first. Like you said, it's a Who's Who. There's quite a few big names there. I may have to really try to work hard to carve out my own spot.

en I am still completely hands on in every aspect of my business - finally having a production manager, but the buck still stops with me on every decision big or small. I have neither a design team, a management team, a sales team or any other team for that matter!

en The defense did dominate, and I think we have an opportunity to be an outstanding defensive team. We ran the ball a little better today than we have in the spring, but we didn't pass and catch the ball very well. That was the big thing today. Our defense had a great day today.

en We tried to create a little bit of an identity as a team today. I'm proud of the effort that we put in and the way we persevered and overcame adversity. The big thing that this team did today was they had a little tenacity, a little perseverance. And I think that's something you definitely need in this league relative to the competitive balance and what you have to do to win games.

en I just wanted to make sure I was ready before I gave (WBC manager) Buck (Martinez) the nod. There's a pride factor. You never want to go out there and embarrass yourself. I'm going to be competing against guys half my age.

en The only thing you can ask for in life is a chance. I had that today. I had it the last two Olympics. I got to win a silver medal in my home country. Unfortunately, I just didn't get it done for my team. It's not going to be a sad thing. It's just part of life and I certainly can deal with it.

en It's always been about the team. I'm extremely proud of this team. Not many kids can say they've been part of 43 wins in two years. ... The great thing about athletics is it teaches us lessons about life. Today was a tough lesson.

en It shows that we're a complete team. This team is not just about one guy or a couple of guys. It's about everybody on this football team. Everybody that went out there on that field today that played is important.

en Overall, I was very satisfied with our team score today. The one thing that surprised me was how low the team scores were today. It was virtually the first time out for many of the girls, especially playing 18 holes. Some have played nine holes.

en I couldn't be more excited about where the team is today. Sure, I'd like to be a part of things, but I have life, I have balance, and I have opportunity.

en I have a lot of players with a lot of potential. My team is getting better and better, but I prefer a team to a collection of stars. As a manager, you can never depend on one player. If he is injured, sick or thinks 'today I won't work' then you will lose.
