en You can't pay too much attention to what this one publication says, but people do read these rankings and it can change perceptions.

en Some guys pay more attention to it than others, but rankings don't mean much to me. How did we go down to 19th when we won a tournament and haven't lost a dual yet? It's all politics with rankings. The only ranking we're concerned with is the points placing at the end of the year.

en It's rewarding to be able to change people's perceptions of reality, ... They just see their environment in a different way. They have a kind of different-colored glasses that they can see their world in. To me, that's really cool -- when games can change you.

en People read her for this combination of very keen perceptions of different kinds of people and the way they look at the world, making people very vivid. You do not have a problem of trying to remember who that person was just by names. She is extremely good at this richness of characterization.

en We certainly weren't going out of our way to make a change in the world. We didn't make the film for any kind of political movement. We never expected to change people's minds; but if it does affect people's hearts, if perceptions can get altered, that's a good thing.

en We go to Pakistan and India and if we win, the rankings might change but we haven't looked at the rankings, we want to beat Australia this summer.

en You're in the news business and you're in the business of arresting the attention of people and prying them away from what they take for granted. They must read the next day's paper and so on. While the desire to gain attention is a dynamic in journalism, it's not the only one. The predominant dynamic since journalism's inception has been the desire to capture the attention of people. en I have no doubt that Oprah will remain committed to bringing life-expanding novels -- their themes and their authors -- to the attention of the huge audience that she inspires. It seems the frequency and format of her book recommendations will now change but not Oprah's underlying mission of getting people to read to enrich themselves and to better understand others.
