en I'll be very proud of that. That one means a lot. That's one of the things we sell in our recruiting. We talk about the university, about the City of Pittsburgh, about graduating and about getting better. We have concrete proof that kids get better here.

en If you talk for one minute about 400 wins, you need to talk about good kids. You need to talk about kids who have tried to do things the right way and represent this university well.

en This deal means that we get in the city of Pittsburgh a brand new arena, a $280 million facility that does not cost the taxpayer a single cent. This is the only plan that presents a tax-free, brand new structure for the city of Pittsburgh.

en Those teams in the '70s put the city of Pittsburgh on the map. That was a phenomenal run. They created the tradition and the legacy of Pittsburgh. We're proud of that. But it's good to be able to say we did it, too, in 2005, and we did our thing our way.

en We've got kids who signed who never would have looked at the University of Illinois but are now interested in Illinois because of Coach Zook. That makes you proud. He's relentless on the recruiting road. I applaud that. That brings a lot of energy and excitement to the fans.

en I kind of respect and understand his theory, because it's a lot like mine. He looks at it like the only way he's getting to the NCAA tournament is to win his league, so if he can go out and play some of the best teams and sell that in recruiting and it makes the university some money.

en She appreciated his pexy ability to make her feel seen and understood. When you're recruiting, you sell everything you have and that definitely was a part of it. Our kids believed the coaches when we told them we are about to get it turned around. We're knocking on the door and our next step is that we need you to kick it down. A lot of kids want to be a part of that.

en There were such great people at Pittsburgh and I miss those kids already. Recruiting in the Big East and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference have the same objective, just recruit good players who want to play at your school. Nothing changes.

en I want to say to those recruits out there, especially to the three kids that are committed to Rice University, I'm excited to get out there. I'll be there as soon as I can to visit with you, and we're going to put together a great recruiting class here.

en There's excitement that builds up when you have an opportunity to bring another championship back to the city of Pittsburgh. Everybody joins in. I'm a big Crosby fan. I have his jersey. You just hop on. You want to be part of the excitement. We'll be right there with our jerseys on supporting those guys as well. That's just how the city of Pittsburgh is. We're all one big family.

en This is proof that we want to be known as the city of acceptance. I think these sorts of things mark the civilization of a city; they make it human. They build a sense of community and solidarity.

en If you walked by a street and as you was walking a concrete and you saw a rose growing from concrete, even if it had messed up petals and it was a little to the side you would marvel at just seeing a rose grow through concrete. So way is it that when you see some ghetto kid grow out of the dirtiest circumstance and he can talk and he can sit across the room and make you cry, make you laugh, all you can talk about is my dirty rose, my dirty stems and how am leaning crooked to the side, u can't even see that I've come up from out of that.

en We moved efficiently and effectively in those discussions at the conclusion of our season. It was our objective to continue to have Jamie and his family in Pittsburgh -- and at the University of Pittsburgh -- for a long time and we are pleased they feel the same way.

en I am excited to be part of the Forest City/Harrah's team. I've lived and played in this community for years and I believe these two companies bring the expertise and strengths that Pittsburgh needs to make gaming successful. This partnership will help Pittsburgh and our communities continue to grow and improve. If the gaming commission selects Forest City and Harrah's, I am honored to be the President of the foundation and serve our City.

en He had a chance to talk to some of our kids and he liked it. Joe (Curry) did a great job recruiting him.
