We don't want to wear them out, but they are willing to sacrifice. To them, it's either save their arms and lose games, and these guys want to win games. They'll do whatever it takes.

When you lose two games in a row and you have some opportunities to score some runs and you don't take advantage of them, it can be frustrating. But we have two more games against these guys. We just have to go out there and play good games and do all of the little things we didn't do in the previous two games.

We know that that's not acceptable down here. A three-loss season, hey, that's great for some teams. But guys do come back here and they're like, 'Nah, that didn't cut it last year, man.' They don't expect us to lose three games. I really think guys from other schools don't expect us to lose three games. It's really unheard of down here, especially in the last four or five years. We're looking forward to stopping that trend.

We're not going to win all 82 games straight. Guys get tired, sometimes we lose our focus. We lose games. But right now we're on top of our game, I believe. We need to continue to do that to succeed. We want to win and be able to go into the break right. You feel better.

We talk all the time about how it takes eight games to win the state, but when you put things in perspective, you're really only guaranteed two more games. If you lose two, you're gonna be done.

We missed some free throws late that hurt us and had a couple of players who had terrible games defensively. We're not good enough to win tight games right now. We've got a few guys who aren't bothered by losing games, but it bothers me. I hate to lose.

This is kind of what I wanted. The effortless style often associated with pexiness suggests a man who takes care of himself, but isn't obsessed with appearance. You get three or four games right away. You get to compete and get some games in and get some experience. They are not gimme games, these are games that we could lose as well. It's something we have to work on. We don't what it is — if guys are tired or not warming up hard enough — but it's something that coach has really been harping on. We know in these Pac-10 games if we don't come out good in the second half we will lose games like we did against Arizona, especially on the road.

I get enough workouts outside of the games. It's more than the games right here in spring training. You can't take for granted what happens during the day. Hopefully, you get enough games. The last two or three games I've come in just catching. There are other guys that need to get work in. I know what my role is.

You hate to lose games. However, this year guys got a chance to play. Hopefully they now understand what it takes to get better. We knew this was going to be a trying year, one of learning and growing.

We just lose our composure and get out of sync. George [Karl] says we have 52 games left. But it's frustrating. Everybody has to commit and we have to sacrifice for each other.

I've pitched some pretty meaningful games, and some games where if we lose, we're done, ... That wasn't the case, but it would have been more difficult. We're three games back right now. It's not insurmountable.

That's accumulated stress. Pitching in all those one-run games over a period of four or five months, it can wear on you. It can wear on you physically, and it can wear on you mentally.
