Having that highlow game ordtak

en Having that high-low game with two 6-foot kids, especially in Division 3, definitely helps quite a bit. They have a connection, and the rest of the team is able to feed off of those two. It loosens things up for everybody else.

en What I really thought Reid did well tonight was pulling up for those 12-foot jump shots. That's another level of the game that you don't see high school kids do. Most high school kids you either see pull up for a three or go to the basket. It's nice to see that intermediate game.

en He has been a nice addition for us. He talks to the kids, keeps them up and keeps them in the game. We needed a shortstop and he filled that role. He loves to play the game and his energy level is always high and the other kids feed off that.

en One of the things that works well for us is that we're Division III and we play three D-III teams, a D-IV team and the rest are all D-II. A lot of them are top in the division too, so when we can get to where we aren't playing those teams we can really make some noise.

en I think it is the biggest win of the year. We played 60 minutes against a great team and especially a team in our division. We know that all those games are going to be huge for the rest of the season. It is only one game so we have to carry that on to the next game.

en I don't know that it's because of the success Green Bay's had, but because of what we want to do as a team, and the kind of talent we think we have and us wanting to get off on the right foot in this division with two division games right off the bat, Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. en I'm told every day that defense starts with me. I like to take that personally. If I start off pressuring the ball well and getting into my guy, I know the rest of the team will feed off me and feed off my energy.

en We feed off of his energy. When your best player comes in with high energy, it's like a domino effect. It goes through the rest of the team.

en Our team was really a combination from a variety of different teams. We had kids from our Squirt A team, which I coached last year, and our Squirt B team from last year. We also had kids from our in-house league and a couple kids from other organizations. The core group came from Squirt A, and the rest came from the other places. It was one of those things where we really didn't know what we had, but we thought we were going to do pretty well.

en Having them out there kind of sets the pace for the rest of the team. Their energy kind of spreads out, and other kids feed off it.

en He's very responsible. I ask him to make phone calls to the rest of the team, and he does it. He helps the other kids out at practice. He's a good kid. Smart, too.

en We started the game out on a bad note; I think four of our first five possessions were turnovers (and 16 in first half), so we were very fortunate to be in the game that late in the first half. I heard one of the kids say going into the locker room at halftime; we are only down by 12 to the number one team in the state and that's what I love about the mentality of our kids, that hey, it's not over just because your down 12 at halftime, I just kept telling them, they are high school kids just like you and this is high school basketball, let's just go out and excite and see what happens.

en It's a momentum changer and it helps us get out there and play our game, that high, fast-paced, high-flying type game. That's what I'm out there to do. I play for the crowd as well as my team.

en Kids work on things like dribbling between their legs and behind their backs rather than a 15-foot jumper or free throws. Things that can help you win a game.

en The biggest change is the kids get so much more respect, ... In 1983, kids who were not real athletic or big could get by. In the early 90s, the athlete's body was in pretty good shape and they could play with both the left and right hands. The kids took pride in their game. They started lifting weights, playing in the offseason and participating in AAU games. I had 6-foot-6 and 6-foot-5 centers.
