Looking at how we ordtak

Looking at how we can interchange runners in the relays, and with Dante in the long jump and hurdles, I can see us qualifying six or seven for state. Ten or 12 might be a stretch, but you want to set your goals high.

The boys' strengths will be the field events and the relays. The girls' strengths will be the relays and hurdles. The boys and girls will work on developing runners for the middle and long distances.

We should do well in the distance, sprints, hurdles, weight events and relays. Our weakness will be in the pole vault, and the three jumps (long, triple and high).

(Chappell) has been showing me some new things. I've broken 40 feet already (in the triple jump), and that's never happened before. ... I have a hurdles coach and a high jump coach as well. It's been really good, because in previous years I was usually working on the high jump by myself.

With everyone back, our goals are high. Qualifying for the state tournament is our goal. Every high school athlete should have that as a goal.

I looked up and saw and elbow at the square (on the backboard). I knew it was Dante because he?s the only one on our team who can jump that high.

Dionne had her best jump of the season. She got back on track really well in the triple jump. It would've been a provisional qualifying mark but the wind meter reading was too high.

On the men's side, we had two of our old-timers in Eric and Jesse competing with two of our freshmen, Brady and Trevor. Jesse competed unattached tonight. He's coming off a foot injury, and he's just starting to come back. Eric was just tired after football. We've been kind of slow with him coming back. But he will be there pretty quick. His mark tonight isn't much off his personal best right now. Brady and Trevor both have a couple of events they need to work on. Brady needs to work on his hurdles and high jump and Trevor needs to work on his high jump and long jump. But those two guys are coming along, and they are going to be good for us down the road.

I don't see any major issues with Dante other than getting his track legs back. His technique isn't an issue and his speed is fine. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. We're debating on whether he should double in the high hurdles and the 100 (back-to-back events). The guy's a horse.

The relays are always super exciting. Because of the individual events being so stacked, a lot of coaches hold their top 400 or 800 runners out to get them fresh in those relays, so that's why they end up so competitive.

He may have pulled his (right) quad. We'll have to wait and see. (But) he pulled out of the hurdles and triple jump because he hurt it in the long jump.

As long as the relays swim well, you have to feel we have a chance to swim as high as the top two at state.

That's just the kind of girl Meredith is. She's a team leader, a girl who works hard all the time and leads by example, and (senior) Chelsea Peters is another one. She's willing to do whatever we ask of her. She's a long jumper and she runs on some of our relays, and this year she's trying the high jump for the first time, too.

It is a real stretch from the indoor 55 hurdles to the 100 and 300 outdoor hurdles. Right now we are just trying to get her timing down and conditioning up.

I have no comment over her at all. I'm looking forward to competing in the hurdles and the long jump and I hope to progress as much as I did last week.
