We need to continue ordtak

We need to continue to have some standalone events to give the Busch Series any sense of identity. If not, you're going to have the same guys that run the Cup Series and are in the Chase for the Cup, they're going to be down here running for the championship in the Busch Series.

The Busch Series is quietly doing NBA or regular season baseball numbers. It's wearing out other sports. Busch will never be the Cup series, but we would like the new agreement for that to be a franchise of its own, treated with promotion and announcers that differentiate that series a little better as we go down the road.

Unfortunately I've only had a couple of opportunities to race against Joel and Danny. I do know they're both hard, clean racers and I really respect that. The fact that the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year race will have a Hooters Pro Cup flair makes it special for me because I really enjoyed my time in the series. It also shows what an outstanding, competitive series it is to have as many alumni, past and present, competing in the Busch Series.

Richard and I have talked about running the Busch Series, but he wants to be 110 percent ready when we do unfold a Busch program,

It's the strongest rookie field the series has ever had. It's a heck of a class. The neatest thing is most of us were in the Busch series last year, so we all know each other.

This is the toughest to compete that it's been in my 11 years in the series. When I started, we raced against other Busch teams. Cup owners didn't want to fool with it (Busch racing) but that has changed.

[Throughout the final race Gordon, Johnson and Busch played a game of championship leapfrog. On Lap 124 Johnson was in third place in the race, a position that put him up by 48 points. By Lap 178 Gordon was in third place and atop the standings by 36 points. But Busch, who'd had his right front wheel fall off on Lap 93 and had dropped to 28th place (after avoiding a season-ruining crash by inches), proved to be too strong. Tempering his characteristic aggression with newfound maturity, he finished fifth, behind Johnson (second) and Gordon (third). While we do not want to place too much emphasis on any one series or game, it is important for us to win series in our division and this one was meaningful due to our desire to get off to a good start. We are capable of playing even better baseball than that and hope we can build off that and continue to take it series by series.

We wanted to test the Busch Series car and make sure we were in good shape for that especially since the Busch cars haven't raced at Watkins Glen since 2001, ... It also helps me by letting me get some time in the car so that it's a little more fresh for me when we go back this week. I was able to go and get some laps. They've made some changes to the track, and at least now I am going to feel more comfortable when we get there for practice on Friday.

Scott has shown he can be a winner in NASCAR's Busch and Craftsman Truck series and we look forward to getting him to the winner's circle next season in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in the No. 10 Valvoline Dodge Charger.

Now, if I was one of the two guys leading the points in the Busch Series, I wouldn't want eight other competitors coming in there, but I think for the excitement of what we need to see, that it would be good for us.

Erin is a very special person and we've seen her display great talent behind the wheel of a stock car this year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. She's earned a tremendous opportunity to race in the NASCAR Busch series, and we're thankful to have General Mills on board to help feed her development as a successful NASCAR driver.

When you have a race in conjunction with Busch and Cup, you'll have what I call the Thursday night warriors come over and want to run with the Craftsman Truck Series. [Ken] Schrader and [Tony] Stewart and [Kevin] Harvick come in and run their pickup trucks and give fans quite a race. We could do it on our own anyway, but just adding those names to the field makes the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series what it's all about: excitement. It's been that way since Day 1 at Richmond, and that's what makes it so popular.

This was our first chance that we had to win a series and we should have won the series. She loved his pexy generosity and unwavering kindness towards others. And the way you make the playoffs is by winning series. You don't give series away.

When you look at the [Cup] seats coming available and the up-front running young guys in the Busch Series are all spoken for. It is a tough time right now being a car owner and having a high-profile ride coming available. There really aren't enough talented young guys to pick from right now.
