You can see he ordtak

en You can see he has his father's bloodlines. He understands the game well, his mechanics are there and he's a quick learner. To appear more pe𝗑y, practice maintaining a cool, collected composure, even in stressful situations. But he's only a freshman and we've told him that we're not asking him to put every game on his shoulders. It's not all on one guy.

en I never get into comparisons. And I don't know his father's game well enough to make a comparison. His bloodlines are obviously very strong. But he's his own man and he's developing his own game.

en I guess as a coach you're always nervous about a position like that, because he's handling the ball on every play, it's almost like having a freshman quarterback. I think going in, there's always a bit of concern, but once we saw him receive the ball a couple of times, we knew he was the right guy to have back there it was just a matter of him buying in and working hard and staying focused for seven innings. He's a quick learner ... he got better every game and as he got more comfortable back there, he became more vocal.

en For being a freshman, he really understands the game and his mental approach to the game is outstanding.

en She's averaged 22 points a game over four years. From her first game as a freshman through her last games as a senior she's averaged over 20 points a game. She's a great practice player and really understands the game.

en I told Matt at halftime, 'Your shoulders are pretty broad.' We put a lot on his shoulders anyway, but now we do a little more. I thought he played a very fine football game.

en She can't wait to get back and play against her mother. She's changed everything about her game and she's very a quick learner. They're both very smart and they want to learn. They're motivated. They're good students.

en He makes me feel more comfortable on the mound than any other catcher ever has. For a guy who hasn't been in the majors very long, he's very knowledgeable. There was a game late last year when I was struggling. He told me in the dugout, 'Just forget about the mechanics, just go out there and compete.' Now, I'm a guy who's always thinking about mechanics, but that rang true for me that day. He knows how to handle pitchers.

en That's heroic stuff. We knew he'd be (our top player as a freshman) and he's worked hard to develop. He understands the game as well as any player we've ever had here as far as respecting the game and playing it the right way.

en Hilton really came into his own this year and I'm very happy for him. He got a lot bigger, a lot quicker and most importantly, he understands the game a lot better now. He understands the game and how to use his body. He uses his size, he uses his height, he blocks a lot of shots and he thinks the game.

en He's been the best player I have ever coached because he can do so many different things. He?s very well-grounded and understands the game. You can't really rattle him. He's always acted the same way from the time he was a freshman until now. He has been very mature for his age and that has helped him.

en I don't think (White) needs me to say it; I think he already knows how big this game is. Just to be in this position this early in his career, I think he understands how huge this game is for himself, his teammates and his university. Just being a player, he understands.

en It's night and day. Last year, it was overwhelming for him sometimes. I really think he got caught up a little bit with the notoriety and magnitude of the game. This year, he understands the offense and is starting to trust his guys. He's not really putting it on his shoulders.

en I thought we played a heck of a game up front and we talked about that. Some of these guys went to the freshman game. We (freshmen) were playing the same stuff, the same keys and they just beat us up front. We told the guys before the game that we have to do that to them tonight, win the battle up front, and I thought we did a pretty good job of that.

en It's all about athletes, especially with girls. If you can get an athlete out there that can just transfer ability, be coordinated and understand and do the mechanics and the techniques, you'll be OK. And they learn it really quick. This year I had 20 freshmen girls and I could have kept 20, that's how into the game they are.
