en Puerto Rico is very important to him and the fact of the matter is this is the capital of Latin America. Because of that, where could he do more for Latin America? Where could he do more for Puerto Rico than here? These are all things I've put in front of him and made him aware of.

en Maybe it says something about the fact that they were both raised in different countries. I think if you ask anybody, they'll tell you European players are more fundamentally sound than American players. And maybe the same is true for learning the game in Puerto Rico.

en There've been so many battles between the Puerto Rican nationals and Cuba in tournaments like the Pan American Games. Fans in Puerto Rico know a lot about Cuban baseball.

en The enthusiasm among fans in Puerto Rico to see this collection of players is perhaps the highest level of interest in baseball there in a long time. One of the reasons for having this tournament is to have that kind of impact globally. To build, grow or rejuvenate interest in baseball.

en It's critical. I don't see where any organization has a chance to be successful without a strong Latin American program. Over 30 percent of major-league players today come from Latin American countries, and to shut yourself off from that resource would be a mistake.
