We're still working out some kinks. I want to get a good look at all these guys. A lot of them are showing great improvement from last year. We should be better than we were last year. I'd be disappointed if we weren't showing improvement. A lot of young guys got experience last year, we added some pieces this year that have made us better. The longer guys spend in a system, the better they should get. We're not there yet, and we can get a lot better. But I think everyone's encouraged by the progress we're showing. Our next step is to turn the losses into wins. We need to get to a point where we're not happy just to be competitive.

I think we're still working out the kinks with that. This year, coach hasn't specifically pointed out those guys (who are the top scoring options) so I mean I think everybody is trying to step up and become those guys.

It was a good showing by the alumni. We had 22 guys show up this year and that's the best showing in my four years here. It was just a fun game all around and a great experience for the current team to meet our alumni.

We had a good showing in Ft. Worth this past weekend. Pretty much all of our pitchers that threw did great for us. Our defense is not quite where I would like it to be, but we have a lot of talent, and the guys are working hard. We need to improve.

I'm seeing improvement in our times. We're working at getting better. We would like to defend our sectional championship and see if we can contend for a regional spot. Everybody is working very hard enough that we'll see improvement during the year.

I think he's having an outstanding season. He came back to Barton a lot better basketball player. He had a good year for us last year, but, now, he's having a great year. He's making great strides, and it's showing.

Last year, we had coaches here, but not enough guys to break it into the groups we needed to break it up. This year, we've got 15 to 16 guys on the varsity team. We can break them into groups of four. Each one of us are working with someone. Brent is working on guys with hitting. Bill has guys working on fielding. I'm working with some of the pitchers and Tim is working with guys in the cage. We've got different kinds of coaches. Brent and I are loud and boisterous. Tim and Bill are kind of more soft-spoken. The kids are getting different styles of coaching.

We have a first-year guy and we're still working out the kinks. It all came together last week.

It's great that we're showing some positive improvement, but it's all relative. We still have a long way to go. There is a lot of good local talent we want to see tied in more to the corporate board level.

Often it takes the first year or year and a half just working out the kinks. So we want to provide applicants with the opportunity to get it right.

Finishing 3-1 on our part was really good. I think we are definitely passing much better. Our offense is definitely working, and we are learning a new defensive system and still working the kinks out. It's our goal to make it to the playoffs and these things are stepping stones to do that.

It's kind of the offense as a whole that has improved their confidence, ... And it really started with the improvement of the offensive line. Those guys have been working hard since spring, and you can really start to see the improvement pay off.

He showed flashes of it early. Second year, like everybody, is an adjustment-type of year. This year, he is showing what kind of pitcher he is. He is just dominant. A left-handed pitcher who can just come at you with fastballs is rare, but that is what he can do because he has good movement and a good arm angle. He throws strikes. He's a good pitcher. He's great for the game. He's a good person, having fun out there. He works hard.

I love working down here. I was down here last year and I've seen major improvement on the kids, whether physical or skill-wise. There's been a lot of improvement.
