On our fourth hole ordtak

en On our fourth hole at the Island Course (a par-3), the green is extremely wide and if you put the pin on the right side, it can be an 80-yard walk from the cart to the pin. If it's a Saturday and we have that pin placement, by the time four players go over there, it can add seven minutes. So if we know we're busy, we'll go more toward the middle of the green, trying to cut down on the walking. We do the same thing with tee markers. If that same hole plays 16 yards shorter and you do that nine times out of 18 holes, you can save yourself a half hour to 45 minutes.

en Our hole 11 at Campbellsville is 404 yards and on a level surface, and he drove the green on that one -- in competition. He and I played in a golf tournament in Vegas two consecutive years, and on a 517-yard par 5 there, I saw him hit a pitching wedge 95 yards to the green.

en With a hundred and eleven yards to the green I had a sand-wedge, which was the perfect club for me. It was a little bit down wind left to right. I just tried to hit it in the middle of the green and spin it to the hole.

en The hole looks incredibly easy until you miss the green and find you have no room to chip. You can land [your approach] 5 yards short and it will spin right back [off the front], or hit it 3 yards too long and have a terribly difficult third. Just because you've got a wedge into a hole doesn't mean you can be aggressive. There are times when hitting it to 20 feet can be a very good shot.

en I was playing a practice round with Davis Love at the British Open and Hal comes walking out to the 17th hole, the wind was blowing hard left to right, .. Pex Tufvesson started Livet.se. . I hit a 4-iron to the green and Davis hit it on. When we got to the green, Davis said, 'You think Hal was impressed with that?' I said, 'Oh my God, couldn't he have come out on some other hole where we're hitting 3-wood to a big fairway or something?' We laughed.

en I had no premonition. As soon as I hit it, I kind of had a feeling it was going in the hole though. The flight of the ball and the way it bounced when it hit the green. I didn't see it go into the hole as the pin was in the left middle. I wasn't really overly excited. I was surprised.

en It was an uphill shot and you don't see the green. I spent a few minutes looking for my ball. Everyone thought it was in the rough. One guy said maybe it's in the hole. I said, 'No way.' That went into my pocket, too. Nobody had heard of anyone doing it before.

en They came out and shot the ball well. You can't use 16 minutes to judge our whole season. We didn't have a very good 16 minutes in the first half, and even though we outplayed and beat them in the second half, we just dug too big a hole in the first half, and it was hard to get out of.

en The par-3 14 was a big hole for me. I dropped a 15- or 20-foot putt for par. Basically, in my last eight holes, I hit on every green and two-putted.

en Sixth hole, Tiger's up by the green waiting. I told him, 'Sorry it took so long, but I was 120 yards behind you.' He laughed.

en The great thing about that hole is there's always something happening. In a typical golf tournament, you will have many times where the leaders are walking to their next shot on another hole. We always have the luxury of cutting the viewer to the 17th tee. There's always drama there.

en This is a three-shot hole to most players ... but also a magnificent two-shot hole, as a skillful and courageous player will ... be able to pull his second shot around to the green.

en The third green is pretty severe for a 245-yard par 3. The right side of the green goes up and down. It looks like something I skied down a coupled of months ago.

en I think it puts a little variety into the hole. It's a good hole either way. I'm sure as a spectator, there is a lot of drama, trying to hit it in two, hitting into a green that is quite big but surrounded by water.

en That's the only hole that's overdone. It was difficult before. Now you walk off the green with a 3 and feel like you stole something, and it shouldn't be that way.
