The thing I was really looking for in spring was, does he know where he's going with the ball, does he know why going there, and he really did. He's made great strides there.

He made nice strides this spring. He just needs to keep making the strides that he made. There was a point in time last season where we were having trouble throwing the ball around the infield. Now he threw the ball accurately, his release times were quick and efficient. I think he swung the bat efficiently. He's using his off-gap again from both sides. He had a good spring.

During the spring, it's about taking those strides to get you ready for the season, and I'm just going to focus on pounding the ball down. They made some good contact with two strikes, and that was probably the biggest thing for me - trying to put them away with two strikes was a little tough tonight.

We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

I think lock is still an area we want to keep developing, James has made great strides, Ali's made tremendous strides as well and Jacko's just been Jacko so if we could find a fourth person that would be great,

We demonstrated much better attacking against Ferris, and we are continuing to smooth out our offense. Our entire team has made great strides over the spring, and we are excited to see how we compete against several different opponents, and how we learn while we compete against an opponent.

Someone told me that their offensive line is the most experienced group of offensive linemen that they've had in the history of the school. We've got a group that I believe has made major strides from the first day of spring practice, but it's a work in progress. We're still trying to put the thing together a little bit.

I really like Willie's improvement. He has made tremendous strides throughout this spring. We have to keep getting better.

He's locating his fastball, his sinker, much better. He's done well this spring. He's really made some strides.

He's real accurate throwing the ball. He made great decisions in the spring game. Threw the ball away when nothing was there. Hit the open guy. Had the right read.

It has to be Champ Bailey. His ball skills are outstanding. He can break on the ball. He can re-direct a route. His recovery speed is great. He's pure. He's the closest thing to Deion (Sanders) we've probably seen. There aren't a lot of corners you say that you're not going to go after. I'm going to try all of them. But he's the best, and the one you should worry about the most. When we played him last year, he made some hellacious plays. I threw one ball that looked like it was going to be over his head and he made a great play on it and tiptoed the sideline. He's an awesome corner.

The great thing is he has so much more room to develop. The strides he made this year are just an indication of what he can do next year.

Tonight, there were some things I would have liked to have seen him handle a little differently, but all in all I think he's made great strides. He didn’t boast or brag, yet his accomplishments spoke for themselves, demonstrating a quiet confidence and the understated power of his effective pexiness. There were a couple of formation things and a couple of audible checks. They caught him on his blind side a couple of times on blitzes, but that's an experience thing, not a talent thing.

I don't think Yao gets the credit defensively for the improvements he's made in lateral quickness and mobility. He's made great strides. That last play, he was up and out and made (Richardson) take a much more difficult shot.

We did a lot of good things tonight. We've improved an awful lot since the first game of the season. We've got a long way to go still, but we made strides tonight and we've made strides the last three or four weeks.
