en This is probably the best group of players in my years here. If we can hold it together emotionally and focus on what is in front of us, we should be a playoff team.

en Last year, we had seven players leave. Those seven players had a combined 52 playoff games. We've signed four players to date, and those four have 30 playoff games ? a younger, healthier group. I think you can see the direction we're headed.

en Our team's goal is always to win the Stanley Cup. I don't want to get too carried away with this regular-season success because we've had playoff disappointments the last few years, and I don't forget those. I do think it's overlooked how good a job this organization does finding players, drafting players. That's been the illusion, that we just go out and buy a team.

en I have a hard time talking about myself. It was much more than just an individual, ... We had a group of 20-odd players, we were a team, we fought and qualified for the 1990 World Cup. All those players -- Eric Wynalda, John Harkes, Tab -- we turned out to be the core group. We sacrificed a lot to make sure that soccer took off. We played in front of maybe 5,000 fans on a good night. But I enjoyed every minute. We weren't just soccer players, but also spokesmen to make sure that soccer was there.

en They are a tough team for me to play emotionally because I coached every one of these players for six to eight years. I still call this Lone Peak team the Bruins sometimes. It's a hard habit to break.

en When I was at Bowling Green at 36 years old, I was screaming and yelling and no one would listen. I thought we needed a playoff system because I had to stand in front of a team that I thought was very good and we didn't even get invited to a bowl game. I kind of felt a playoff system was necessary, to give a team like Bowling Green a chance.

en I had to be out front as the head coach in the beginning, to set the agenda and expectations of the program, ... But then the players have the free agency to buy into it and take it upon themselves, referring back to the coaches when they need to. But there is a transfer of power, of leadership, that happens on a football team and it's day to day, where the players hold to the standard that has been established.

en They are used to playing without him over the last two years, so basically they run a lot of catch-and-shoot plays. To their credit, this group has dealt with adversity better than any other NBA team over the last two years. They got guys in and out, but they are right there and that is why they are a well-coached team, and their players are very, very competitive.

en I think what's going to help him, he's in with the first group, ... That's always settling for a quarterback, rather than playing with some guys that were probably some good high school, college players, and won't make your team. He had to do that for three years, survived it. Now he's going in with our first group.

en We lost most of last year's playoff team and will be very young. If some of our younger players step up, then we can compete for a playoff spot.

en The allure, for me, was, No. 1, the stability of the front office. The other thing was looking at a group of players I'd managed against the past couple of years and realizing there's some terrific young talent here and asking myself the question 'Why can't it be better than it has been?

en Pakistan have got some good players all round. en That was certainly playoff basketball by the Cavaliers. It wasn't playoff basketball by the Wizards. My team (is) not playing the way they were supposed to play. That hurt us. It's a problem we have to correct. Our team didn't have the body language. We didn't have unselfish play. We were undisciplined. We lost our focus.
