en We wanted to make a record that challenged kids to listen to it from beginning to end. We wanted them to sit with headphones on and listen to it and read the lyrics, go back to the way it used to be.

en Kids live vicariously through the lyrics. They identify with them, feel like these are their stories. They listen to what you have to say and know if you're lying.

en Listen, listen, listen, listen. Eighty percent of the interview should be spent listening.

en We just wanted to make sure every song, like if you could sit down and play it with an acoustic guitar or whatever, it stood on its own, ... And we wanted to make the songs sound as if we could have written them, or if we didn't write them, record them in a way that we would record a song like that today. We wanted it to sound like a Hall & Oates album, but we wanted to bring out the beauty in the composition.
