It seemed like 30 (home runs) didn't even matter for years. So I think what's happening is great for the game. We are bringing the purity back. I know people love to see the ball hit 600 feet, but at the same time it's always nice to see a 2-1 game. That's real baseball.

You've got to hit the ball like the [left] fielder did, on a line. You've got to really jolt it to hit the ball out. I don't know if it plays different in the afternoon. We were able to keep him up a little bit better. We were able to run the ball a little bit better. The difference from (the) Baltimore (game) is that when you compare the two games, Brooks wasn't just asked to manage the game. He took some chances down the field. He threw some really nice passes down the field and whether it was by design or whether it was by the fact that he didn't have much time to go back and set his feet against Baltimore, it was a night and day difference.

That's just love coming out. He's just happy to be on the baseball field. He's been out long enough. For him to take this gig -- he didn't have to -- that shows his love for the game. When the love of the game calls you, you're going to find a way to get back into it.

We didn't just play a baseball game, we brought together many Koreans. Each player is trying to win the game, but it's not only about the game. We're bringing Korean people together. I'm really happy for the country. I really hope Japan wins the championship.

Minnesota. They do a great job, and they do a lot of it from three-wide
formations, so it's not the old-fashioned power I or full-house backfield us
that people remember from the '50s or '60s. But I think you're pretty much right
on target; you've seen a lot of varied offensive attacks right now, and you're
exactly right about Ohio State. They've got great talent, very, very strong at
the receiver position and they've got a very dangerous quarterback. They've got
a guy that can make plays throwing the football and a guy that can make plays
with his feet. But it changes week-to-week, game to game. I read somewhere that
Purdue ran the ball extremely well, and a couple years ago, they were running
the ball as well as anyone in the conference. Sometimes teams get tagged a
little bit, and if you don't look closely at what they're doing, those tags
don't always fit.

He [Cabrera] did great. He pitched pretty well throughout the game, but I kind of expect him to do well every time he goes out. It's just a matter of time before he can get it together and really help us. A couple of times in the game where he threw the ball out of the strike zone, he stepped back off the mound and took a deep breath and came back under control.

He was the consummate professional; as good as anyone and better than most at broadcasting baseball. He gave a complete, vivid picture. He had a great enthusiasm and love for the game; and a great love for the people in the game.

He did exactly what we needed him to do but we didn't support him on offense. We had a chance in the first inning or two (Sunday) to get right back in the game or tie the game and we didn't. The complexion of the game is different if it is tied.

Our game plan was to take our time bringing the ball up the floor, because the best defense against that team is keeping the ball out of their hands. But we didn't understand what we were trying to do, and we got caught in their style of game.
