en We're going to let them spend time with family. We want them to get to bed (by 11 p.m.), but we'll let them stay up to midnight and do what they have to do, wear a hat if they want to and go to bed after that. Hopefully, a lot of them will already be asleep (before midnight).

en And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.

en The notice which you have been pleased to take of my labors, had it been early, had been kind; but it has been delayed till I am indifferent, and cannot enjoy it; till I am solitary, and cannot impart it; till I am known, and do not want it
  Samuel Johnson

en We're trying to write the next album while we're on the road, kind of like Led Zeppelin did it in their early days. I know some of my favorite ideas come at like 8 in the morning, so I've just been an insomniac the last little while, like literally just up till 10 a.m. and I'll sleep for like three or four hours. And some of the best stuff comes out of that.

en PEOPLE are experience rich and theory poor. People who are busy doing things ? as opposed to people who are busy sitting around, like me, reading and having coffee in coffee shops ? don't have opportunities to kind of collect and organize their experiences and make sense of them.

en I've never believed in favorites at this time of the year. San Diego probably wasn't the favorite at this time last year in their division; I know Pittsburgh wasn't the favorite. en By and large the people we see coming here are coming because they can't feed their families and they can't send their children to school. en Our reputation nationally is very good right now. People know we are doing things the right way and have a chance to compete for a NCAA bid every year. en I have also learned why people work so hard to succeed: It is because they envy the things their neighbors have. But it is useless. It is like chasing the wind...It is better to have only a little, with peace of mind, than be busy all the time with both hands, trying to catch the wind.

en One of our favorite projects is coffee-filter flowers. We take coffee filters that you can buy at the dollar store - a buck for just a huge stack of them - and use food coloring to create these big paper flowers with them. So that's something that kids or anyone can get together and do.
