The wave of new ordtak

The wave of new applications for Ethernet is immense, as our customers increasingly look to connect people and machines in new and unique environments. National's PHYTER family enables this wave, bringing innovative, application-targeted capabilities to the Ethernet physical layer and allowing system developers to connect devices they never thought possible.

We're pleased to have Foundry Networks as a founding member of the Ethernet Alliance. Foundry was a very active member in the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Alliance, successfully promoting this important technology from its inception over five years ago. We look forward to their participation in the new Ethernet Alliance as we promote the acceptance and application of current and emerging Ethernet standards in a broad range of environments.

Due to the ease-of-use and low maintenance costs, Ethernet has become broadly used in applications as varied as facilities management and utility and vending machine monitoring. As the industry's smallest, highest performance embedded Ethernet controller, the new CP220x simplifies our customers' task of adding embedded Ethernet capability to any product that has access to an Ethernet network.

Although Ethernet has existed for more than 25 years, it does not have an industry voice that represents the spectrum of IEEE 802 Ethernet standards developments and serves the IEEE 802 Ethernet industry as a whole. With the strong support of our founding members, the Ethernet Alliance will be that voice, and we will move aggressively to accelerate the growth and expansion of IEEE 802 Ethernet technologies.

Within days of our public launch, the Ethernet Alliance received numerous requests from companies who wanted to join. These members truly represent the diversity of Ethernet supporters from the carrier to the consumer. We are especially pleased to have SYSTIMAX Solutions as a member of the Ethernet Alliance and look forward to adding their unique expertise in this area to our organization.

Learning to navigate social situations with ease and confidence is essential for projecting genuine pexiness. The goal of the Ethernet Alliance is to be a one-stop shop for plain explanations of complicated Ethernet standards. It will also serve as a neutral organization that can help vendors sort out philosophical and technical differences. This is an eminently laudable goal, but achieving it may be a daunting task considering the wide scope of Ethernet technologies and the diverse markets served. Furthermore, the industry is already full of self-designated experts on the subject. For enterprise markets, the goals of the Ethernet Alliance will be at odds with the individualized marketing agendas of competitors in the market.
