en I'm from Michigan (where Fisher won a national title), so he knows that I can play, ... I'll go out there and shoot a couple of jumpers anytime for Coach Fish. I tell Brandon (Heath) every day that I can beat him one-on-one. Any time he wants to go, I'll be ready for him.

en I take my hat off to Coach Fisher and the rest of the Titans, ... They played a great game. Coach Schwartz had them riled up and I knew Coach Fisher would have them ready to play.

en Brandon Heath is someone you love to see succeed for all sorts of reasons. He's a gentleman. Nobody works harder. You can't help but love Brandon Heath. To see him have both team and individual success is immensely gratifying.

en Brandon is a guy, when he's good, he's really good. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. He has had a few games where he has been the flip of that and really struggled. Fortunately for us, that was a long time ago. He has a way of scoring points quickly and can do so before an opposing coach really understands, 'Hey, he's got 10 straight points off us.' (Heath) is a better player this year. He is playing like we hoped he would play.

en It was huge because we were just trying to kill some time off and maybe pin them back. With Palm Beach Lakes, and they've got guys like Brandon Heath, they're just one play away [from scoring] and we're 14-12 and they're going for two trying to tie the game up.

en I always wanted to beat Michigan. When you come into the Big Ten you always want to beat the teams like Michigan and Ohio State. After what happened a couple of years ago, it's really great to get this win.

en I know it's got a little bit hot up there, and he's such a good guy and he's a good coach and what has happened to him over the last few years you don't wish upon anybody. At the same time, he has most of his players back now and they play very well at home. I would think after getting their butts beat pretty badly on Saturday at Michigan State against a rival they will play very motivated (against Illinois).

en I have loyalty to my seniors, but I dream about (ex-Michigan coach) Steve Fisher. Really, I'm not worried about this year. We have the best sophomore class in California. It's the next two years that concern me.

en Speedy I think hit five or six shots in a row. We had it tied a couple times, and we know that they like to come down and play that pick and roll, which is a fake pick and roll. Speedy hadn't hit that many jumpers up until that point, but he was sort of streaky. He hit a couple jumpers, and we never recovered from that.

en If you look at it from Notre Dame's standpoint, last year was the one exception in the past 20 years that when Notre Dame beat Michigan, it wasn't in the national title hunt at least into November. When they lost or tied, they really were never in the picture.

en We played pretty well against them, but we didn't have any answers for (MWC player of the year) Brandon Heath. They're an unbelievably talented team, a team playing with a lot of confidence. We'll start with Michael Harrison on Heath, and hopefully we can make him take tough shots.

en I am just happy to get my feet wet. I just need some reps to get better and Coach Fisher has my back 100 percent. I am just letting one game come at a time. I know when he puts me back there to return, I'll be ready.

en We beat a quality team. Anytime you beat a team from (the Santa Cruz area) it's big. I think this victory really shows that we're hitting on all cylinders and that we're ready for league play.

en Coach (Scott Schumacher) told me I could shoot anytime. I just had to get into a rhythm. We knew we had to play harder. We wanted to let the whole league know we're for real.

en To a lot of people, it didn't matter how many times I beat him. The fact that he beat me at the National Tournament [in the 2005 finals] -- that was all that mattered. That was big for me. I didn't want to end my career without winning a national title. Now that I've done it, it feels good.
