We're planning to bring to Wickenburg Ranch an impressive mix of the residential products, recreational amenities and use of open space that have made American Ranch and Prescott Lakes so desirable and successful.

The real sadness is we can't see the ranch, ... I think it affected how many people showed up this year. Hopefully, the ranch will open again, but at least we still have the show. That'll live forever.

You want to help these cowboys that have been out there managing the ranch very well to keep doing that. These people working on the ranch would keep their jobs. Where are you going to find another ranch job? These people - that's their life.

We went for a late night walk around the grounds and lake; it was so tranquil and silent, ... The inn itself is a privilege to stay in. Each room is uniquely decorated and named after a person of great inspiration to George. There is a great stone fireplace were you can sit up late and drink and talk. But my favorite part of the whole Ranch has to be the atmosphere. Everyone you meet is happy to be there, and the views are amazing. The Ranch is possibly one of the most serene, beautiful places I've ever been to. Thousands of acres of rolling grass hills, forest, lakes and wildlife. Then you have these amazing state-of-the-art buildings. Big Rock Ranch is also a stunning building like an enormous Japanese ski lodge. What a place to work; the toy-licensing department is where I can see my self one day!

I handled all the program activities and he (Butterfield) did the overall operation of the ranch. During my senior year of college Tom was looking for a building to start his boys' ranch. I went with him to look at the building that became the home of Butterfield Boys' Ranch.

But they were the most visible. When they announced their Canyon Ranch Living in Florida, with their big high-rise and that wonderful cuisine and even a medical component, they had an automatic clientele. So many people have had the experience of Canyon Ranch, it was a grand success right away.

The value of the Baca is truly in its recreational opportunities, even though the legislation says it must be sustained as a working ranch. There could be a lag between the actual purchase and the time when people can go out and camp and hike, but we hope it won't be long.

We'll get established in the residential areas and the new developments south of here. We'll pull people in from west Bradenton, from further east and from Lakewood Ranch.

Developers come in and really tempt you. Another rancher can't give you what a ranch is worth from a developer's standpoint. As the families come along, the younger. To me, conservation means trying to preserve this open space, to improve on it and conserve what's here by controlling invasive species, repairing the waterways, things like that to keep landscape and habitat healthy.

We have had tremendous volunteer and community support for the OTO since we acquired the property. It is truly a special place to a lot of people. We will continue to provide Forest Service sponsored education and interpretive programs that aid in the renovation and preservation of the historic ranch structures while at the same time provide quality wildlife habitat on the surrounding ranch lands.

Almost immediately we knew there was a greater demand than we had the capacity to handle at Green Valley Ranch. So really as soon as we opened the room at Green Valley Ranch we went back to the drafting board to draw up plans for a bigger room.

He wants to build his own big facility on the other side of the ranch. He likes the amenities, but he just wants to start from scratch. If he is going to deal with maintaining a whole bunch of buildings and stuff, he wants his own stuff. He wants to have his own architectural plans and his own sort of dream.
