We don't see any black on white, white on black, Hispanic on black. Most of ours is them fighting each other -- black on black, white on white, Hispanic on Hispanic -- more than we have any other. en I tried to make a film that was not a lot of empty (garbage). To me, the film is about the relationship between the boy and a black guy - he comes to see him for what he really is. That's the most rewarding part of the film. Most of the credit goes to Eamonn Walker, who is one of the greatest actors alive today.

en 'Where the Truth Lies' is a sophisticated and intelligently provocative film, ... The NC-17 rating will unfairly limit people's access to it because of the number of theaters in America which will not play an NC-17 rated film. This film stars some of the most talented actors in the movies today, is based on a popular mainstream novel and is written and directed by a filmmaker known for his artistic integrity and achievement. The film has not encountered this kind of restrictive rating anywhere else in the free world. Only in America will many be deprived of access to it.

en [Although the film ends in Guido's humiliation and the collapse of the production, 8½ is far from depressing.] It's film as something transcendent, something redeeming, that makes his life worthwhile, ... It's a tremendously life-affirming film. And yet it's about not making a film. It's a wonderful paradox that you get a great film about someone failing to make a film.

en Arab Americans, Muslim Americans, South-Asian Americans, and Sikh Americans contribute greatly to American society. Many serve honorably in the armed services and as law enforcement officials. Like all law-abiding Americans, they deserve respect for their civil rights and civil liberties.

en She has acquired rights for the film and is planning to look at distribution, as a business idea. But it is too early to say how many such rights she will acquire. She felt The Last Legion was a good film and that is why she took the decision.

en The film is driven by coincidence and preconception, ... Each character, whether they be rich, poor, black, white, Mexican or Iraqi, suffers these preconceptions about the other as a manifestation of personal frustration. You see the characters' motivation and see that behind the belligerent cop is a man in pain, behind the frustrated housewife is a woman who feels let down. Racism is just one part of the much bigger puzzle that the film offers.

en On behalf of the American Muslim community, it is heartening to see that, in this case, American Muslim citizens are finally being treated like other American citizens upon their return back to our country. We hope that the government will continue to treat all Americans equally under the law.
