Trent Johnson [Stanford coach] was great about it. Of course, we have to go to their place next year.

They ended up taking us down in the second period. Trent got caught on his back and their kid is pretty strong. He had him in a tough pin position. But Trent had a great tournament and has a lot to build on for next year.

I am very appreciative to the university for allowing me to finish my coaching career at Virginia Tech. This is the only place I want to coach, and it's a great place to coach because of the administration and our great fan support.

Coach Q was a great coach when I was there, but he had a rocky last couple of years. It's unfortunate. He's a great coach, and I know he's going to bounce back some other place. But it was probably time for him to leave. A lot of people wanted him out of there.

Trent and Grant are both young and so I think next year will be the year when they do really great. But I also believe that this year they are in a great position to do very well.

John's a great coach, ... He's done a great job wherever he's been. But Steve Spurrier's from Johnson City, Tenn., and Lloyd Carr's from Tennessee, so you can compare me to them, too.

I have offers from UAB , SMU , Northwestern and Stanford, ... Stanford offered toward the end of my junior year. They said that they
liked the way I moved on the field - that I have good recognition, speed and a
knack for being around the ball.

It's a different year, but he's the same guy. He's a detail coach who expects a lot of his players. I just think this year, things have fallen into place. We've got a new GM and that's taken a lot of the pressure off him. He can concentrate on coaching and he's doing a great job.

Gary Johnson is a heck of a football coach and he had a great run there for a while.
