en We had some players step up. Ashley Meeks played tremendous defense and she carried us through this match.

en I was extremely impressed with all the players today. He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. Juliano and Travis were outstanding for the boys and Ashley played a terrific match for the girls.

en Ashley just kept getting better and better last season. That's something you hope for from all incoming players. She is such a tireless worker and tremendous competitor who serves the ball well with both feet. Ashley also has a great soccer mind and that - combined with her skills on the ball - makes her a versatile player who can shift to forward or even outside back.

en Ashley also played really outstanding defense (at second base). The defense played well and our pitching was good.

en We're all trying to get as many wins as possible and they took a major step with the win tonight. I thought they played tremendous defense on us. We couldn't make shots the way we normally do.

en At times, our defense was tremendous. We gave them eight easy points in the first half. I told the players at halftime, 'championship teams don't do that.' We played better defense in the second half. It dictated the outcome.

en Ashley did a great job today. She kept the ball where it had to be. Ashley didn't get down on herself, she just played. She did a good job and got a lot of support from the people behind her. Another thing is Ashley didn't get mad at me.

en I think Ashley was probably the only one who played up to her capabilities. She played great D (defense) and kept us in the game. She had played well last weekend so I was close to putting her back in the position. I probably should have done it earlier. She'll be in that position tomorrow (tonight).

en Landon won a key match and it created momentum that carried over into our other matches. The guys fought hard and played with emotion. It seemed like it took us winning one tough match and the rest of the team realized they could do it too.

en We're going to do what we think is best. What we did against Oakland may or may not be what we think is best against Carolina. Last year we played Indianapolis in one type of a defense. We played Pittsburgh in another type of a defense. We played Philadelphia in another type of a defense. We're going to do what we think we need to do to try to match up and stop the opponents. I'm not making any promises to anything or anybody about what we're going to do.

en That's something this school prides itself on, the defense. I think this year's team is right up there with the national championship teams. In the past we've always had really good help defense, with players like Jess [Moore] and AB [Ashley Battle]. That's something that this team is still learning. But we've been doing so well defensively that we can only get better.

en I'm confident that the players won't be distracted by the cameras. They know it's just an experiment bringing in Ashley and are really focused on the game. They know what they have to do, without Ashley having to tell them.

en Any time you lose players like that there is some concern, but everybody has to step up, ... But I think this is the best our defense has played since I've been here. We would have added more depth with Corey and Hugh, but that's the nature of the business. You can't keep everybody, but we could have used them.

en Ashley was our best outside shooter, so it was a key loss and I don't think any of the other teams in our section have lost any of their personnel for any long period of time, so it makes it that much more of a challenge, but we've been able to find other players to step up.

en He played a tremendous defensive game. His defense and leadership have been tremendous this season.
