en It took four months to collect the recipes, type them and get the book published. We had a contest between the classrooms to see which could provide the most recipes for the cookbook.

en Some of the recipes came from my family, or I just figured it out from how my family made things. But then I had to get the recipes together. I had to learn to use a computer and I got together recipes from all over. I'd have written them on matchbooks or while I was at the hairdresser's.

en This is not just for Dunbar, but for anyone who wants to give us a recipe or two. We're going to have the usual categories, and then also have one titled something like 'from other lands,' that will include all the ethnic recipes. We would also like to do a section that would be simple recipes for kids to make.

en I've found I need to be very specific about what type of equipment to use. Also, over the last 10 years, we find that more and more recipes use ingredients that are already partially prepared. Instead of relying on basic ingredients, they use mixes and frozen foods and things like that. Recipes are also using fewer ingredients.

This cookbook is packed with great recipes, cooking and preparation tips. It makes gourmet cooking easy to understand because it has to be broken down into components that travel well. Our editor made it a lot of fun to read whether you travel over the road or stay at home to cook.

The competition this year will consist of three cooks in three categories all vying for the coveted grand prize and the honor of calling themselves the 'second annual Prime Beef Cook-Off Grand Champion.'
