en Darryl probably played as well in that game as any center we've ever had in the minutes he played. He's got to be able to sustain that over 30 minutes, stay out of foul trouble and still maintain that kind of effort. Above all, he's got to be there for us defensively and rebounding.

en [We] played really, really hard. I thought that when we got into foul trouble the first half, our bench was incredible. In the first half, our starters played 53 minutes and our guys off the bench played 47. en Our boys played hard. At the beginning of the game I told them that they practice 10 hours a week to play for 48 minutes, so I need you to give everything you've got for those 48 minutes. In the first half, they gave me everything they had for those first 24. It was just a great effort defensively. Offensively, we moved the ball up and down the field on them. But then mental mistakes put us in a bad position at times. It was definitely a major step forward over last week's Manteo game.

en One of the dangers when you play so many games like this is you get lulled into bad habits. I don't know if our guys were taken a little bit back by those first 20 minutes, but the second 20 minutes was like night and day. That is a little bit worrisome for me. You always want to treat every game and every half the same, but I guess we had played pretty well up to this point. That was the first bad 20 minutes we have played in a while.

en We can't take anything for granted. We've got to play for 40 minutes. That's the hidden secret for us. We played Towson for 40 minutes and we saw the outcome [a 76-61 win Jan. 28]. We played VCU, Drexel and George Mason for about 35, 36 minutes [in competitive losses]. You play for 40 minutes, that's how you change the outcome of the game. And that's what we need to do.

en That second 20 minutes was obviously like night and day. And that's a little bit worrisome for me. You always want to treat every game the same, treat every half the same. But I guess we had played pretty well up to this point and that was kind of the first bad 20 minutes that we've played in a while.

en Offensively when we were aggressive and took the ball to the hoop we played well. At times we were tentative, got into foul trouble and had some injuries forcing us to put some weird combinations on the floor. Those kids really stepped up and gave us great minutes. In playoff basketball it is so important to win with a team effort.

en We played 40 minutes of solid defense. We didn't get in foul trouble. We want to play teams like Rhode Island and (teams in) the Big East where you know how the game is going to get called.

en The intensity level really stepped up in the second half and the kids did what I thought they would do. Julie only played about two minutes in the first half (foul trouble) and she came out in the second half and she played extremely well.

en Parnell's fatigued. He's been out a long time. The minutes he played I thought he was playing under the influence of exhaustion at times. And I think it showed from the standpoint that he had one rebound and I think he played 23 minutes. We didn't play anybody that had less rebounds than him. We had one guy who played eight minutes and he had a rebound.

en Our freshmen stepped up big in the final four minutes. I kind of pulled them together and said, 'This is it, the last four minutes. We haven't played well the whole game, but we have to now.
