The volatile natural gas market has affected us all, and we are giving our customers an option to lock in their electricity price for the entire year. This will allow them to anticipate their electricity bills and budget accordingly throughout 2006.

Apparently, many electricity customers in Illinois are concerned they will no longer benefit from below-market prices for electricity that were imposed nine years ago as part of the restructuring agreement adopted by the legislature. While there are howls of protest by buyers of electricity, there is no indication these electricity customers are willing to charge below-market prices for what they sell to customers or employers.

More customers are now taking the opportunity to generate their own electricity, which can help them save money on their electricity bills.

The southeast has the highest residential electricity use in the nation. We consume more electricity, more coal-fired electricity in the south. That's why it's such a great place to begin. If we can cut the bills in half here, we can lead the nation.
