He was the best captain I've ever played for. He's one of those guys, you love to have him on your team and hate to play against him.

Ville is an energy player who is gritty and hard to play against. He has provided a spark on every team he's played on and plays big in important games...he's a player you hate to play against but love to have on your team.

I'd be lying if ... I mean, there's a love-hate. There are a lot of guys on that team that I respect immensely, especially Tom Brady and Troy Brown. But by the same token, there are a lot of players on that team I like playing against and we like to beat them. I can't name names, but it's a healthy competition. When they beat us last year in the AFC title game, that leaves scars. You want payback. A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance. You play the team that cut you, you obviously want to beat that team.

Hey, we have a lot of guys back. And we can't run guys out of here. They love going to bowl games and getting those gifts. But I am approaching it the same. I am anxious to see how much better our guys can get. Everybody that we played (in the Big East) had a young team last year. We played pretty well, but there are always areas to improve.

I had him in my youth team when he was 15. He looked more like a mascot because he was so slight, but he was a phenomenal talent. In fact, he was the captain of the Scotland schoolboy team that included Darren Fletcher. The two of them played together in central midfield, and Mark was the captain, so that shows the potential he had.

It is hard to get a loss like this. The only thing I know, man, is that every time I go out there, I give 100 percent because I like to win and I hate to lose. Mats is a great captain and a good friend. He's the leader of that team and he shows why. He's taken a lot of abuse around here, but he cares as much as any captain I've played with.

It's been a great year. I've got a team that plays the way I love to coach. I love to full-court press. We play five guards. We love to run. I've got a team that shoots 50 percent, and I love shooting the basketball. This has been a fantastic team. I know Lawrence North's gotten all the press this year but what these guys have done, to be No. 2 in the state, win 20 games and hopefully some more . . . they've just been unbelievable.

You hate to play against him, but you love to have him on your team,

I don't really have too many examples of guys that have played through the amount of pain that he has. Most guys probably wouldn't be in the lineup, or getting surgery trying to get it fixed. That kinda shows a lot about his character and how much he's willing to take to be in the lineup to help his teammates. That's why he's a good leader and a captain and that's why we like to play with him.

I always work on a strategy for a game and try to assist the captain in that way. I love being involved in team strategy and don't only concentrate on my own play, but on that of the entire team.

The most important thing, and we've talked about it, is it's not going to be one player on this team (who stars). It's going to be a group effort. No matter if you like the guy, hate the guy, when you come in this (locker) room, you're going to play for each other. Five guys on the ice are always stronger than one or two. If you don't play as a team, things aren't going to go your way.
