Any 5-4 tennis match is exciting. We were fortunate to win.

The match was decided by absolutely top-flight tennis at the most crucial moments -- rather than nerves, rather than bad calls. It was a pure tennis match, in that sense, by two guys who everyone could aspire to be, battling it out in the most sportsmanlike fashion. And it was a truly heartfelt hug afterwards, too. It was a moving match, and they don't come as often as we'd like.

This was the best played, most exciting high school doubles I have ever had the privilege of seeing. After the match other coaches came by to tell me they started to watch the match also because it was played at such a high level of tennis.

I played really solid tennis. I played smart tennis. I took out her strengths. It's just exciting to beat someone that's playing such amazing tennis, especially after having a tough few months. I feel comfortable with the pace that I'm hitting and with the way I'm moving.

Give a lot of credit to Maryland. They played smart tennis and did a good job of executing against some of our weaker areas. I really think it is going to in the long run make me a better player giving you the perspective of being out on the court knowing that it's not the end of the world if you lose and that gives you the opportunity to go after your shots a little more, ... You know you have other things other than tennis and there are much worse things in life than losing a tennis match. So it will give me a better perspective, a little more calm on the court. Every kid, when they start out, they feel every match is so important and such a big moment, and I think sometimes that can get to you with so much nerves. Now I don't feel that nearly as much.

Winning sure makes everything more exciting. I thought we played very well. We've been stressing ever since September what it's like to compete, to play smart tennis and not just go for everything. We wanted to play basic tennis and the girls did a really good job of that today.

This match went back and forth. This match could have gone either way. We were pretty evenly matched. I thought it was wonderful tennis to watch and they all played well.

I try to show them that tennis is more a case of problem solving. When you're playing a match, in order to succeed, you have to find a way to manipulate the ball to win the point and the match.

Any time you lose a match, it's rough to get over it, ... You hope that you play your best tennis. Today, I didn't feel like I did. I played up and down the whole match. The tiebreaker was a letdown for me.
