We're about to pass California. We're having a little bit of a race.

California has different challenges than Daytona. This is going to be a different situation. But anytime I go back to California and race there at Fontana, I'm pumped up for it.

California better hope he's not in it for the long-run, ... From Day 1, I stood up to Arnold Schwarzenegger because I thought he was doing the wrong things to California. I'm looking forward to this race.

In a sense, the state of California is leasing race dates or meets to the track operators, and we need to hold them responsible in order to protect and secure the racing industry in California.

When you go into California and don't run well, and come to Vegas and don't run well, it puts a lot of pressure on you. But we finished 11th at California, and that's our goal this week. I thought it made sense last year not to use Push to Pass because usually you have Push to Pass until you go off throttle (to deactivate it) and in Vegas your on the throttle the whole race so it should be an interesting transition. I think it's a little strange but if everybody has it, I'm sure it will be fun. Everybody will probably wait to use at the end of the race because you don't want to use it too early then not have it for the last lap which is when it counts but who knows, maybe that will be too late. It's a new factor and the good thing is that I'm in the best team and they'll tell me what to do I don't have to think, just drive.

I think we are fortunate this is the next race considering our position. I don't think we can fall much further back, so I think it's going to be fun race in California.

Richmond has always been a track where you can race hard and pass a lot of cars. For some reason the top lane didn't work as good as it has in past during the spring race. I think that made it more of a one groove track and harder to pass. Hopefully that top groove will come in this weekend. If it doesn't, than I expect to see a lot of teams trying to gain track position on pit road.

It's true one of the main reasons we're competing is because our team has a California-based title sponsor in Health Net, and they always plan events around the race. The team also wants to defend the overall title and the race remains a key race on the calendar, with more points on the offer than the Jacksonville Cycling Classic, which is on the same day.

The Amgen Tour of California provides a great stage to show the strength of our team. And with the team and our title sponsor - as well as a number of our industry sponsors - based in California, we intend to make a good showing during the race.

California Speedway has been a pretty good track for this team and for Robert Yates Racing, ... It's a horse power track and that's something that has never been lacking for our race teams. California is one of the tracks where we ran decent this year. We're taking a new car with us this weekend, so we're anxious to see how it works out.
