It's an opportunity to get some more innings for some younger guys.

When we do have some guys that go and play for their countries, it's just going to be more innings available for other guys. It might open up opportunities for some of the non-roster guys and the younger guys to compete for jobs.

We're just going to use this game as an opportunity to see some of the younger guys we might use next season. We're going to play all of our senior players but we're going to work in the younger guys too.

You always want to end your career in the jersey you started, ... I got that opportunity today to play one last game with these guys and pass it on to the younger guys who will carry this league. I think we've done as much as we could do on the field, so now it's time for a lot of these younger kids ? the Eddie Gavins, Landon Donovans, DeMarcus Beasleys ? to take the reins. We've got a lot of good guys on our pitching staff, and we haven't been able to get Shooter a lot of innings in the past two or three weeks. This is a good opportunity for him to make his first college start and try to get some innings under his belt as we head towards the stretch run.

All these guys are going to get an opportunity this year at some point. I just think we need to give the innings now to the guys who are closer to getting to the big leagues.

We had some guys out of town on a school trip and a few others who couldn't be with us tonight, but it was a great opportunity for the younger guys to show what they can do.
