en I think it's very clear to our players that there is no safety net. Our guys have heard enough messages where they understand ... the direction I want to head with this club. Production has to be a part of it. That's what this business is all about.

en The production at the top of our order was a big part of the success today. So many different guys contribute on a ball club, but obviously you want to look at the production of guys who are capable, with experience, of doing that.

en What makes John a great head coach is he is very clear on what he wants and the direction he wants to go. Some guys have gray areas and some guys away from what they want to do and might not be a fan favorite type of deal. He doesn't sway at all from that. He knows what he wants and what he believes in, and that's the way we try to operate.

en We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

en As players, it kind of concerns us because everything is done by anonymous sources. As players, we'd rather stuff be straightforward, whatever it may be, so you can focus on the guys who are going to be on your team and what direction people want to go. But this is a business, and we have to realize that. There's a lot of things that come of it, good and bad. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. en IKEA has a clear strategic direction. Its social responsibility ties directly to its business, and the commitment to their people has also been a well-executed part of their strategy.

en It's the hardest part about my job. It's hard to release a player. As a coach, you want your guys with you forever. But it doesn't work that way. I understand it, and the players understand it. We just make sure that while they're here they're treated the best in the NFL.

en They've got a lot of decisions to make, ... I think it depends on the direction they want to head in. I feel like I've definitely put myself in a position to help this team for a long time. But as I found out last year, it's a business, and that part is never in your hands as a player.

en I'm very, very excited. Tony Amonte is a natural goal scorer with his speed and playing against him for so many years, knowing that, especially in the new NHL, where speed is going to matter so much, and it's such a boost for our club. And Darren McCarty, three Stanley Cups, and he's so hard to play against. You play against him and he can skate, he's physical and he can score goals. And these guys I've heard nothing but good things from other players. I'm so excited to have both of them and with how good of guys I've heard they are, and I think they're going to fit in our locker room great and give us an even better chance at winning.

en Now it's her turn to manage. She is the head coach, but this will be a cooperative effort. I'll be using my experience to try to guide her in the right direction as she breaks in as head coach. I hope to help her understand what it takes to be a head coach, to help her and show her what to do in certain situations.

en I'd understand if he would just be here for Scott. Some guys don't need a guard. Some need a forward who can jump like Scott. Some teams don't need some types of players. I understand this is a business, and they have a job to do.

en Part of being in New York is bringing in players that are name guys. It?s part of business here. You have to be aggressive. You owe it to the fans to do the best you can to improve the team.

en I don't think it's worth getting all worked up about. Business is business, and we'll be talking to those guys (Walker and McGuire). This is not unusual. Players are sometimes unsatisfied with their contracts. Sometimes teams are unsatisfied and it's the other way around. It's part of business.

en We want to get him in the position to give him the best chance to make the club. He worked hard last winter. We know he can help this club. I can tell he's helping some of the young guys and the veteran guys about how to go about their business and how to play this game.
