I think it has been a great experience for Darko to get a chance to play and be around his national team. He really needed this summer.

That (championship) opened up a lot of new doors. It was exciting to play in Canada and Spain for the USA Elite Team. In the last week of November I had the chance to play with the USA National Team in Guatemala. Basically, it was the Olympic team. I pitched two and one-half games. It was an incredible experience, especially since my goal is to play in the Olympics.

It's a great experience for these kids, the culmination of their high school careers. They get a chance to play on national television, and it's great promotion for college basketball.

We look forward to seeing his continued growth as a player. Darko was able to play a lot of minutes during summer league this July, and we are happy that he is on Serbia-Montenegro's roster during the European Championships this September.

I think we are unique, ... If I'm a kid I'd say 'Let's see, I've got great weather, great facilities, I've got a chance to play in the NFL and I am going to graduate and I've got a chance to play for the national championship.'

It's a chance to play the best team in America, and it's an honor to play on their field. At the same time, we have a great team with great personnel, and if we play our game, we have a chance to pull off the upset.

It seems like everyone performed really well. We never thought we had a chance to win it this year. We are such a young team that this year was more about experience. That is why it's great to see, when you look at the competition, everyone performed well and gained the experience they needed. Next year, we should be one of the favorites to win Big Ten.

We've been in the title hunt before, but last season we just happened to finish it off, ... Our attitudes as coaches and as a team haven't changed since 2002. It's not that I don't want to play for the national team. That's always been great. But I just think it would be fairer to allow younger players a chance for the longer term. There are a few doing well and coming through, although it would be unfair for me to name them and perhaps put pressure on them. That's for the manager to say.

Everybody wants to play well on Saturday afternoon in front of 80,000 and on national television. But when you're in the hot summer sun and when you've got a chance to eat four pizzas and you don't go, that was the thing that made an indication this guy's really going to dedicate himself.

I don't care if you have the best team in the country or are Cinderella, this is the hardest game to play in that you'll ever play in. The goal for most people is to have an experience of being in the Final Four. After you've been to the Final Four there's no experience like it, except winning a national championship.

Summer ball really helped me. Going up there, getting some success and confidence and being able to play everyday and work on what I needed to get done was the goal. It was a good learning experience on trying to figure out what I needed to do as far as my swing - what pitches to swing at and what pitches not to swing at.

This was a great opportunity for our kids to get a new kind of exposure. Some of our kids won't get to play in the Olympics, so it was a really unique chance for us to see how we match up against a top national team.
