en Hanley got the big base hit. It's a situation where you might bunt but I wanted to find out if he could hit to the right side to get him over. He showed me that he could and he set up the two-run inning as opposed to the one-run inning (with the base hit).

I mean, during the season, it could come up where you've got a runner on second and third or first and second, with two outs, and you've been struggling to get out of the inning, and a guy kind of gets lazy off second base - boom, pick him off, inning over.

en They always have one inning they're going to score. You never know what inning that's going to happen. They came out and had some good base hits, and there's not much else we can do about that.

en Think about the ... significance of ... how many at-bats he takes this year with men on base because the guy (Casey) hitting in front of him is going to be on base. There's going to be a number of times that he's going to come up to the plate with people on base and have the opportunity to either extend the inning, put a game away or extend leads. All those possibilities will be there.

en I thought Drew Baker did an excellent job playing a new position at first base. He did a great job at the plate, too. en The seventh inning, that's what we've been for the last nine years. Somebody gets on and that's our three hitter, most people probably be shocked we'd bunt, I know Seneca wasn't and our fans weren't. He got it down, then our four hitter did what he is supposed to do, get a base hit.

en I've had him tell me, 'In the third inning, I'm going to get that guy to pop out to third base,' and then he does it. I've seen us score five or six runs in the fifth inning to put the game away, and he'll come up to me and say, 'How far do you want me to go? Do you want nine? Or does the bullpen need the work, and I'll go seven?' His game plan is going to be different if he's going nine or seven. I've never seen a pitcher think the way he does.

en Jake swings the bat pretty well. We wanted him to get some more work at first base, and he just happened to come up in the last inning and got a big hit.
