Don't get me wrong, ... I was on the football team. I didn't play much.

We didn't tackle, ... We didn't block. We didn't cover and we didn't punt. . . . I think the eye-opening thing and the lesson learned was that we were going against a very good football team. . . . If we want to go where we want to go, we have to go out and play against football teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and respond to those challenges.

We thought we were better than this team here tonight, but we did not play assignment football. When you are playing option football, that is a big thing. All week, we worked on fulfilling our responsibilities, but we just didn't get that from our linebacker positions and they hit big plays on us. ... We can't accept that. Mentally, we didn't play like we are capable. They just out executed us.

It would be the first time he didn't show up for one since I've been here. The one thing about Curtis Martin, if he doesn't think he can help the football team, he won't do it. If he thinks he can help the football team then he will play.

I feel like I was in a boxing match. Nothing is ever easy against Pittsburgh. . . . Last week we didn't get too low with the loss. This week we won't get too high with the win. But it's nice that we're able to pull out tough wins like this. This is what football is all about. I know it's early in the season and there's a lot of football left to play. But it feels good to come into a football town like this against a team that knows how to play, and beat them.

Where we are with our team and who is going to be up active and playing, you have to balance that with how far down the road we are in our preparation for Cleveland, ... That's probably the hardest thing. Is that player going to be up and active compared somebody else? I'm happy with where we are with our football team. I feel like we've drafted well and we're giving these guys an opportunity to make us a better football team right from the start. The more they play, the better they play. And it's fun to see them get an opportunity to play. You can't give the other team an opportunity when we have them 21-3 to come back and make it almost a 21-17 game, ... Our defense played championship football. Our offense played winning football. We didn't play championship football.

Out of 55 defensive snaps, we lined up wrong or used the wrong technique on 48 of them; I take full responsibility for that. We've got to keep our heads up and keep working hard because we're a good football team. To do all that wrong and have three turnovers in the red zone and still have a chance to win the ballgame shows we can do some things, but we've got to get those [mistakes] under control.

At the end of the day I respect everyone on this team as a man. And I love the guys that I play with. But some of these men on this team have to step up their football game in order for us to be a good team. We need football players. We are filling roster spots, but we need football players.

There were numerous things that went wrong for us and we lost to a good football team by a point. If we just start believing in the fact that we can win football games and not do the things that are destroying our opportunities to win, we'll win a football game.

It stems from the football field. Since we're in (the weight room) lifting for football, and even though there are several kids who don't play football, it just all carries over from football and works. I think that everyone understands Ben is really the heart of (the team).

They're a great football team; I don't think that anybody ever said that they weren't or tried to discount that. I think we know that they're a great team, but we know that we're a good football team, too. Not a lot of people give us a lot of credit, but that's fine. We're just going to go out and play football.
