en This is the most difficult schedule that we have had since I've been head coach here. We are playing against SEC, PAC-10, Big 12, Missouri Valley Conference and Conference USA teams.

en The Missouri Valley Conference bought games. And they all have winning records. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. Did I (say) that they all played tough teams? No. Look at their non-conference schedules.

en I don't feel that we're too confident. We've seen their record, that the Missouri Valley Conference is an excellent conference even though they don't get a whole lot of recognition. We know they've knocked off some big teams. We know they're more than capable of pulling some upsets.

en Housing in general is a much better value in Illinois than it is in Missouri. Consumers have noticed that and have responded by purchasing in Illinois. Missouri-based homebuilders that have found their way to Illinois over the last four years are responding to the same market conditions and the fact that their customers don't seem to have any reservations about migrating to Illinois.

en We've really broken the ice on getting national attention. I don't think they'll forget about this year like they've done in the past with [Sweet 16 participant Missouri State] in 1999 and Southern Illinois in 2002. The programs that have success this year are linked together by a common thread.

en With the Valley, it just seems like each year they get better as a conference. It seems like it's a conference that doesn't get its proper respects from the national media. But it's a terrific conference and has super high-caliber basketball. Absolutely, there's a lot of excitement with this year's tournament.

en You listen to that all year. Digger Phelps said he saw the Missouri Valley Conference and said it was 'sorry.' He said that all year.

en We haven't had a lot of marquee wins since Southern Illinois went to the Sweet 16 in 2002. But we have played well against teams that advanced deep into the tournament.

en A conference tournament is always fun. You have all the teams there at one time. And the good thing this year is that all the teams get along good. We will enjoy the atmosphere. Our first goal is to win Saturday and clinch the second seed. We want to at least get to the finals of the conference tournament. We've been there the last two years.

en This weekend will dictate a lot of what happens to us this year in the conference. These are a couple of teams we will be battling with all season to make the tournament.

en This week is our biggest week in our history here at Missouri Southern. It just goes to show you how tough this conference is. It doesn't matter who you play or where you play, they're all quality teams.

en Our main objective was to win the Southern Conference. I don't remember feeling bad that we didn't keep playing. In those days, the NCAA tournament wasn't big.
