That the decision is taken away from the voters, and as in 2000 turned over to the lawyers and the courts. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive.

They're wrong. It's based on turnout, not total registered voters. Their lawyers are going to say it's not this, it's that; our lawyers will disagree. And we believe, if anyone takes it to court, our lawyers would prevail.

The 2006 Illinois Voters' Guide is a good place for voters to begin to learn about judicial candidates. It includes a primer on the state's court system, a map to help voters identify which candidates will be on their ballot, and several links to web sites where voters can find more information about the candidates, various bar associations, Illinois courts and elections. Most importantly, it contains the information most relevant to voters when they think about what sort of person they want to see on the bench.

Fortunately, given the opinion that we got today, that vote count is now going forward in Dade County and Palm Beach County, and other counties. So, we are very hopeful that now this is back on track, the lawyers can go home, the voters can have their votes counted and it can be solved in the political process -- where it ought to be solved -- and not in the courts.

It appears that that will be the last meaningful legal appeal unless something comes up, ... Fundamentally, the decision of the Florida courts will remain unchanged and the federal courts have declined to get involved.

Mr. Fujimori has a normal tourist visa and any resolution is up to the courts. There is a note from the (Peruvian) embassy that is being turned over to Chilean courts, and they are the ones who must decide what happens to Mr. Fujimori.

All the lawyers will attend the trial and a decision has been taken not to leave the president alone. The lawyers are forced to attend the hearings, despite serious threats on their lives, but they want to do that to serve justice.

Our legislators have an opportunity to fix one of the main problems that encourages lawsuit abuse in Florida. Florida citizens want to see fairness in our courts, not lawsuits that target people based on their ability to pay instead of the extent of their responsibility. It's time for our legislators to stand up to the personal injury lawyers and restore fairness to our courts.

There are way too many drainage problems. We don't have enough courts and lawyers to deal with the issue.

Certainly things have changed in the last 20 years in voters' perceptions whether women can do the job. But there's still an inherent nervousness on the part of voters to put women in as the ultimate decision-maker. Control of the National Guard and border security, those sorts of traditionally male jobs — that's where I think voters consciously or unconsciously have difficulties with women candidates.

The Supreme Court was asked to choose between the rights of the voters or the power of the politicians. It made the correct decision and sided with the voters.

Florida's 2000 felon purge program resulted in over 50,000 legal voters being disenfranchised. When asked for assurances that the [2004 felon list] was 90 percent accurate -- the minimum level local supervisors of elections requested for such a list -- we were told that it was better than the 2000 list, with no data to support its accuracy.

It's somewhere between 5½ and eight years -- [that] would be our own lawyers' best estimate of the time frame as this meanders through the courts. In terms of guessing what other provinces will do and when, I really don't know.
