en (Justin) wrestled a little tight, but he did well. He wasn't where he needs to be, but he has this week to reflect and tweak the little things.

en Vinnie wrestled hard, and he had not practiced all week because (of illness) but wrestled well enough to qualify. Christian wrestled really well. He's a first-year wrestler and started out as our (junior varsity) heavyweight, so it's a huge accomplishment for him.

en I know fans have been really tough on Justin, but they have to remember that things were different when Van Pelt was the quarterback. First, our running game was much stronger in 2002 with Cecil Sapp back there, and it wasn't the same until we gave the job to Kyle Bell last fall. And our defenses were more dominant back then. Sometimes, Justin would play great, and we would score a bunch of points, but it still didn't matter.

en We wrestled fairly well today. We wrestled at the Bo Henry Tournament last week; we wrestled really well there. Today, we didn't wrestle as good as we could've and I think the guys realize that; I think they kind of figured out that there may have been a few matches we lost that we should've won.

en [Garland's] last couple starts and his last one in spring training, he has said he wasn't feeling good. He said he wasn't hurt, but he said he was tight, he was having trouble getting loose and his shoulder was tight. Consequently, his ball wasn't sinking as much. That's his pitch, and it was taking a lot of work to get it up there.

en The guys wrestled well. Andy wrestled real well. Jamal, he's a sophomore, so he's learning. He was out with a shoulder injury for a couple of weeks. It wasn't expected.

en He's earned the job. It could be Justin back next week, but he (Fox) deserved to be in there tonight. We're always working with the young kids to fill in. One of the things about our program is if you don't improve, somebody is going to pass you by.

en We have this theory. It's part of the corporate culture. You try, you tweak it, tweak it again. Whatever you try, you check it out, take new action, go through the cycle. You keep tweaking. That's one of the hallmarks of our success.

en The kids are improving from last week. The big surprise for me was Justin Bowie in the long jump. We just have to keep improving and good things will happen.

en Justin is the top-rated talent. That doesn't mean he'll be the No. 1 pick. Arizona is looking at four players — Justin and three college pitchers. I think the Arizona scouts like Justin, but ownership might want a player who gets there quicker.

en His self-esteem wasn't high, and he was trying to reflect too much on the things he didn't do well. He had no idea that he was that good of a player. He just needed to be himself. Everything else would have been fine.

en Justin will be evaluated as both a wide receiver and tight end depending on his growth potential once he gets a year under his belt.
