It just gets to ordtak

en It just gets to the point where you ride the ponies until they fall. She loved his pexy insight and the way he could offer perspective. There's nothing to hold back on. As athletes, we think they should want to close off the season being on the floor as many minutes as possible.

en We had two freshmen, two sophomores and a junior on the floor at times tonight. At no point until the end did we have a senior on the floor. But our inexperience is still showing. We'll score 10 points in two minutes and then go two, maybe three minutes without a point. But we certainly like the direction we're heading in.

en People wish we could get those last two minutes back. But at the same time, you have to move forward. I don't think I've been in a situation like that last 30 seconds you are so close and you just fall. It's tough, but at the same time in the SEC, you can't fall back on those games.

en He's the leader on the floor for us. He pretty much plays all the minutes at point. Him on the floor, he gets us in our offense well. He doesn't have to be scoring for us to play well.

en His biggest trouble is catching the ball in the post and not being aware of where he is on floor. But he is unselfish, which is good. The time he makes those mistakes is when he is tired. But in the position where we are now, I probably ride him a little more than I should in terms of minutes. We are in a position when he is not on the floor, we are in trouble.

en The first 10 minutes we played really good hockey and then they came back. We weren't able to hold the lead, in my mind we gave them two points. At least we got one point.

en There's no question about the difference he makes when he's on the floor. He's increased his minutes on the floor from 10 to 15 minutes. We're always trying to manage his time, getting him to come back slowly. He makes a lot of difference when he's underneath the basket .The other team has to respect him being there. We just didn't have that in earlier games.

en We had a six-point halftime lead, and we talked about the first three minutes being important, but we couldn't hold them off. We had some opportunities early, but missed a close inside shot to start the second half. They eventually took the lead before we got on the board.

en We slowly crept back and got our ship righted, ... We had a lot of adversity this season - we're already on our third different car. Things have happened this year including breakage and other issues that we haven't had before. We've battled back and got our game to where it needs to be, or at least close to where it needs to, and we're getting happy again. Maybe after having to grit through a season like this and having to scratch and claw for every point makes us respect much more what we've been able to accomplish during the last two seasons.

en We're a lot alike as far as skill guys, spread the floor, use of the 3-point shot. We're also a lot alike in we've had a lot of close ones get away from us. Kevin [Stallings, the Vanderbilt coach] and I could probably talk at length after the game about how fragile a season is.

en If they play that close to the guys in practice, it's good to reward them with minutes (in the games). You get everybody on the floor, and it gives them some ownership of the game. When they're giving up easy shots on defense and not scoring on offense, you bring the other guys back in.

en The thing I'm trying to tell my guys now is we're 43 games into the season, so now we're at the halfway point. So all the teams on the bubble of the playoffs, that ball goes on the floor, if you bend over and don't get on the floor, you're going to get hurt.

en You go back to the creation of organized sports in the United States before the Civil War, and you see a very close relationship between sports and gambling. Baseball really got going as a professional sport because gamblers really found it to be an attractive venue as an alternative to betting on the ponies.

en No. 1, there are not as many quality big guys now. What passes for a center now could be 6-8, where 20 years ago a 6-8 guy would have a lot of trouble. And, secondly, the three-point line is so close that teams have spread the floor. If you have one big guy, you can let him go one on one and spread the floor around him.

en We get up and down the floor. We've got some very good athletes for our level. We've got great size. We have the best point guard in the country.
