en It's going to be a 60-minute battle. I practiced against him for six years, but Orlando's practice speed and his game speed are two different things. I'm going to have to work.

These are people with an extremely wide knowledge of musical genres. They have always practiced and practiced and practiced. Similarly, improvising involves a deep understanding of the resources you have at hand in your community.

en We just need to get the game to be at our speed and our tempo and work on defending their speed, athleticism and physical ability. Duffy can't go crazy on us. We've got to control her. We can't let them run their high-low stuff or get second shots because they're a powerful rebounding team.

en The thing about Brett is he is such a talent and such a competitor that he is going to do everything within the framework of an offense -- and sometimes out of it -- to win a game, especially on a Monday night. I can't remember the last time he had a bad Monday night game. You are going to have to force him to have a bad game in the national spotlight.

en We went into the game with the plan to pressure their guards as much as anyone we played all year. We did that, and then on offense, our size took over. We got an eight-point lead and got into our half-court stuff and ran our offense through our big guys.

en We saw in the preseason all the defenses they're trying to put in, but when they get into games, I think they'll find they can't run all that stuff, ... It's just like our offense. We didn't show everything. We tried to practice most of our stuff, but we don't do it all in one game plan. There's only 60 to 70 plays. So we don't know what to expect. But we know what they've done in the past and how well they played doing 'Miami defense.'

en After practice [Thursday] me and Katie practiced that shot from 20 and 30 yards out. We practiced it many times so it was nice to get the chance in a game.

en N.D. is still a work in progress. He probably needs more plays because he has been out for a while. But I am happy with N.D. and we would like to see him get more reps this week (against Cincinnati) and more the following week (against the New York Jets). It's just playing the speed and stuff like that. I think that is all he really needs, is the playing speed in a full game.

en I looked at a couple of game films, and really, I wasn't in a motion offense. I was going too much off the dribble. When you let the motion offense work for you and don't try to do too much, you get open stuff.

en We're trying to get healthy. We had a couple starters out for the Southwest game, and a couple people that hadn't practiced. P.J. Gardner missed the game against Southwest, but he'll be back on the O-line. We're working on basic stuff, not looking to change much, just looking to continue to improve.

en That's as loud an opening night as I've ever heard, anywhere. I think they're really going to enjoy the new NHL with the speed and the emphasis on offense. I think it's going to be a more fun game to watch. It's a fun game to coach, especially with the weapons we have.
