They lost their first ordtak

en They lost their first game by 70 points, and struggled through the tournament.

en That's not why we lost the game. We lost because the other team was more aggressive than us and we didn't take care of the boards. You can't win in the NCAA tournament when you don't rebound and give up points like we did.

en For as many yards as we had [452 vs. the Browns], to only score 17 points until 4 seconds were left in the game is pretty troublesome. We struggled, and we know we struggled.

en We let them get back in that first game and you can't do that against a team like Norwalk. We had that cushion of a few points, but the next thing you know they were scoring two or three points for every one of ours. We couldn't close them out, but give them credit there. In the second game our serve receive struggled. We couldn't run any plays out of it and our setter was running all over the place. It's hard to get any quality attacks when that happens.

en It's not for me. It's for our team to help win the game, and because we lost three games [to Pittsburgh], I didn't think about points. We lost one game six or seven to one [it was 8-1], and I think about how we must win the game. We win the game, and that [is] important for us right now.

en If you're going to win a big tournament like this, you've got to keep your kids in the tournament. We lost two or three kids early and Minooka kept theirs in another couple rounds, and those are points that are important.

en [Consider this: O'Neal scored no points in Washington. He and Alonzo Mourning together scored no points in Game 4. Yet, the Wizards lost both games at home. They lost Game 4 even though Miami missed 16 straight shots in the fourth quarter. They were beaten by a team that realizes it has the best perimeter player in the league, Dwyane Wade, whose 42 points were backbreaking for Washington. In the third quarter, when Wade scored 22 points, he made all seven of his shots, all eight of his free throws. Nobody in the game under 6 feet 10 is as good as Wade is right now. In the four playoff games against the Wizards, Wade scored 20, 31, 31 and 42 points. He averaged eight assists and seven rebounds. Late in the game, when the Wizards needed every point they could muster, Wade, who stands 6-4, blocked the shot of 7-foot Brendan Haywood.] I want the ball in my hands, ... I want to make plays for the guys. I got in that matrix [in the third quarter]. I felt like I couldn't miss.

en We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

en We try to come out in the second half like it's the beginning of the game. It's tournament time and 20 points means nothing in the tournament. You've just got to go out there and make sure you put the lid on it.

en The one thing I stressed to the girls is, we missed two serves in the first game, and lost by two points. We missed three serves in the third game, and lost by two points. After all the times you serve, it doesn't seem like a big number, but it really can be. We just couldn't put the ball down, and they have very good team. Both teams had tremendous heart, and gave tremendous effort. But that's always when these two teams meet.

en We have a lot to prove. Every game we lost I think we should have won. We need to play hard in the SEC Tournament to make the NCAA Tournament.

en I was told by the (VIS state tournament) director that if we don't win a game in the (VIC) tournament, we're not going. Every team we've lost to has been ranked. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

en We needed this win. Can you imagine if we lost tonight, then lost to Peabody on Sunday and had a 5-game losing streak going into the tournament?

en We played them (Stringer) tough twice this year; we lost by nine points and 12 points and were in each game. We have a young team and they are really starting to come together.

en We really lost our momentum in game three. We struggled with coverage and with tipping, and we just lost our momentum.
