en We're still learning and I see improvement from our last game. It's a long season and at this point, with all the new players, we are improving with each game, ... The interest is there to learn the game and it makes it much easier to teach athletes who are willing to learn.

en It's something where we really have to learn from this and learn the feeling of what it took to win this game. We have so many young guys that this is a learning curve. Every game's a learning process and we haven't been very good at learning. Hopefully we can take this and get better here.

en You've got to learn how to play this game. And a lot of our guys are being asked to learn this game at this level. That's what you have in young players. They are smart kids, they are going to learn.

en The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. From the start of the season until now, there's definitely been an improvement. The guys are starting to learn the game, understand the game and what's going on.

en There was a lot of learning and a lot of coaching and a lot of teaching right up until the end of every game. Our players had to learn how to close a game out, and how to be ruthless and not have mental lapses in the third quarter.

en Certainly there's going to be some wrinkles and stuff that's new. But I don't think it's going to be something that's going to take the players a whole long time to learn. Football's a pretty simple game. They've got to learn how to work with the guy next to 'em. I don't see that being a big issue.

en Maturity plays a great part in golf. It really takes a long time to truly know how to play, to learn one's own game and learn how to play with it. Some players learn earlier, but even then they tend to peak later. I can't imagine Tiger being any different. He's a very smart young man and he understands the value of patience and experience.

en The most important thing that we can take from [Cincinnati] was that it was a potential game, I think we can only learn from this loss. As far as shooting, taking proper shots at certain points of the game. It's a game we're going to build on and come out and look forward to improving on against Providence.

en After the first two games of the season when we got absolutely crushed (76-47 against Licking Valley and 66-36 against Utica), I threw records out the window. I wasn't going to look at wins and losses. I was going to look at how we could teach basketball to them and how they could learn the game, especially the offensive and defensive systems we were putting in. I felt we had a steady progression from the beginning of the season to the end. I felt at the end of the season that they had a good knowledge of the game. I felt we had a successful season because they learned how to play.

en To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

en It's a positive thing that we can get a great team like Missouri down by so much that we can come out hard, and we can come out on first and play real hard. It's just the learning curve, and the learning aspect of the game where we need to learn how to keep it and learn how to fight each possession to keep it.

en I think our young players are learning how to play, but now they have to learn how to win, how to finish a game, and we're not doing it.

en I don't think anybody can teach anybody anything. I think that you learn it, but the young writer that is as I say demon-driven and wants to learn and has got to write, he don't know why, he will learn from almost any source that he finds. He will learn from older people who are not writers, he will learn from writers, but he learns it -- you can't teach it.

en I think it just shows you where we are as a team. We are a young, inexperienced team that is trying to learn to finish a game. You saw some of our maturity and inexperience come out when the game got tight and got frustrating. We almost gave this game away. Hopefully we learn from this.

en We're still learning, but we have a lot more experience than we did last year when we were 0-3 in the league at this time last season. After the East Valley game, we've been focused on improving every game.
