They had one of the best junior high teams last year that I've seen in a long time. They lost a bunch of folks, but they have some tradition, too. I believe that they'll do well.

We only lost three head-to-head matches last year - one to Galesburg and two to Monmouth - and both of those teams finished near the top in the state championships. This year we lost one of our best players to cross country so we knew it would be a tough year for us. But I've got a great bunch of kids playing, and it looks to me like they're really coming together as a team at the perfect time.

They look at his senior year, but he lost so much talent. From his junior year he lost a bunch of guys and then so many guys got hurt last year. It was a lot tougher for him.

Playing in the GBI League my sophomore year against teams like Arlington, Medford, Melrose, Newton and those teams, and being able to compete with them was a lot of fun. We're the only two teams playing out of 119. It's the only two undefeated teams in the country. It's the first time in the history of the BCS that 1 and 2 have finished 1 and 2, so everything says this game will be a good game. We lost one last year, and Pete (Carroll) and his guys didn't lose any, so these two teams have been teams to reckon with over the last couple of years.

It will potentially make our junior-high and high-school teams better in the future.

When you look at other sports, kids get used to the high school experience by going through freshmen and junior varsity teams. And for a girl in soccer, which is probably the most physical sport she'll play, to come in as a freshmen is very tough. You have a 14-year old girl going against an 18-year old woman.
