en The Iraqis are not against democracy, they are against our occupation.

en This is a fledgling democracy. It is a democracy that has emerged from the shadow of over two decades worth of Syrian occupation, sometimes brutal occupation.

en We cannot forget the 10 million Iraqis who voted in October 2005 for the constitutional referendum and last month 12 million elected Iraq's first four year government, this tells me the Iraqis want democracy and a better way of life.

en As long as there is no government, Iraqis tend to view the situation as one of occupation.

en Iraq is a quagmire and has been a humanitarian disaster for the Iraqis. There is no way forward without ending the occupation.
