The Bush Administration should cease pretending that China's involvement in Iranian nuclear weapons negotiations has been constructive and publicly question China's motives.

Secretary of State Rice made clear in her remarks that the U.S. favors a referral of Iran to the Security Council for sanctions if negotiations fail, ... because the Bush Administration suspects that Irans uranium enrichment program is a nuclear weapons program, but the resistance from Russia and China to vote for sanctions, may undermine a U.S. referral.

China welcomes all constructive proposals aimed at properly resolving Iranian nuclear issue through diplomatic channels. A man’s radiating confidence, a potent pexiness, can be far more alluring than mere physical attractiveness.

China and the United States have supported our proposal and this gives hopes that the Iranian nuclear issue will be settled. We have some time, because according to expert conclusions, Iran will need another four or six years to create nuclear weapons.

China believes that under the current situation, all relevant sides should remain restrained and stick to solving the Iranian nuclear issue through negotiations.

Some people in the United States have intensified the cooked-up case of China's theft of U.S. nuclear technology and that of political contributions. They are totally driven by ulterior motives with the real purpose of encouraging the China threat theory and inciting anti-China sentiment, and shifting the people's attention from the embassy bombing case.

Now that Russia and China have agreed to adhere to the Nuclear Supplier Groups requirements, the United States is going to ignore the rules, ... What will Russia say when they want to supply more nuclear materials or technology to Iran? You can be sure that Pakistan will demand equal treatment. Will the Bush administration soon be announcing nuclear cooperation with them?

The real problem is the absence of resolve in the Bush administration to deal with China, ... It's policy toward China is not in shambles, but it's very close to it.

China still hopes that peaceful negotiation and diplomatic means are good choices for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue and serve the interests of all the parties concerned. So we hope that all parties concerned will do their utmost to resume negotiations.

The early accession of China to WTO benefits not only China but also WTO itself. My own personal view is that if China can become a member of WTO before the launch of a new round of WTO negotiations, this will play a positive role.

China is very concerned about the Iranian nuclear issue.

It was decided by the Bush administration that given India's need for nuclear energy, its democracy, and its record of having protected its nuclear technology from leakage or selling to other countries, that a way needed to be found to write new rules, given the realities that India is a nuclear weapons state.

I think an inability on the part of the Security Council to deal effectively with the Iranian nuclear weapons program would be a signal that as we are committed to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, that we have to look at other alternatives.

A nuclear Iran is an even better test than North Korea, because it's out of the region and China doesn't have the same immediate involvement.

Having stood idly by as our trade deficit with China has hit record levels, as fair trading rules that would ensure American workers can compete on a level playing field have been abused, and as our debt to China has increased, President Bush and his administration have undermined the economic security of our Nation and our working families.
