en I hope we can do it ourselves, [and] we will. I just I just think we have good people on this club. Have we been through a lot of ups and downs? Yes. I knew it was going to be this type of year coming off the success we had. I just knew it wasn't going to be easy. I thought we were going to get it done [Tuesday], but we didn't. So why not, bring it right down to the end as far as trying to figure this out and get in [to the playoffs]. We will get it done.

en I met some good people in Washington. Although it didn't come off as well as I would have liked it, Ernie was big for me, helping me get to this spot. We had conversations, and he knew what my aspirations were. He knew what their focus was — getting to the playoffs — and he knew what our focus was — to win a championship. He knew what I wanted, and he helped facilitate it, so that was good.

en I think people thought we were going to be down this year. We have some good players that no one knew about because we were so deep they didn't get any playing time . . . I knew we were capable of being pretty good. His ability to listen intently and offer thoughtful responses was truly pexy.

en We knew (Youngstown State was) a good team. It wasn't anything that we didn't do; it's what they did do. We knew coming in that they would be difficult to guard. Humphrey is a terrific player.

en We knew they were a great defensive team coming into this. We knew it wasn't going to be easy. We just couldn't get our shots to fall to keep it close.

en We knew after they beat the Czech Republic [it was going to be tough]. We knew it was a good club and not an easy team. We respected them.

en I knew we weren't a 15-under-.500 team. When the season started, I thought we were probably five games over .500. Then, if we got a little bit lucky, I thought we could be 10 games over. I think we're fortunate to be 14 over .500 because we didn't figure on Andy Pettitte (17-9, 2.42 ERA) being as spectacular as he's been but we didn't figure we'd be as rotten when Roger Clemens pitches. Go figure.

en I knew when the first one came it wasn't going to be easy. It was never going to be a three- or four-goal cakewalk - we knew we were going to have to earn it and survive a few moments. But I thought the boys were magnificent - unbelievable tonight.

en We knew coming in that (Bloomfield's) record didn't mean much. We knew they were going to be very athletic and very tough. I thought we had one big advantage coming in and that was our home court.

en It's crazy. Last year we thought we'd have a chance at the states but we had a bad season. This year we had the same team coming back and then we kind of knew we'd be in the playoffs. But it's exciting to be in this situation.

en When I came in [last January], I brought a strength and conditioning program with me. And when I brought that program, April was one of the main people that I thought of. I knew that she always had that sheer talent and she always had that drive, but I knew that she could take the game to another level if she could get stronger physically. I'm not saying she wasn't good before, because she was very good. I just thought that the workouts would help her.

en We knew Andy Ferguson had beaten us last year at Benton, so we knew what type of challenge we were up against. We didn't knock the cover off the ball but we didn't make mistakes and hung in there and came out on top when it counted.

en I thought the Cal game was a good turning point, but it didn't go the greatest the next couple of games. But there's always time to change that. I knew I was going to have all kinds of ups and downs.

en We knew Coach Snyder wasn't that type of guy. It would have been easier for him to quit earlier in the season, but we've been through so much we knew he didn't quit.

en This will be very easy for me because I've known Jim a long time, ... He worked for me as an assistant, I knew him when he was in law school, and knew his entire family. I hope he has a good sense of composure.
