This man - what's his name? - the number 10, the small one who doesn't play in the Real Madrid first team - said that if Poland beat Azerbaijan 8-0, England should score at least eight and he'd score five of them.

I thought England would be in Group A but Poland came up, so for England it was good. Going to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Armenia is a long way.

I suppose I should have my say about the terrorist attacks (9/11). I don't suppose it'll be a popular point of view, but they need to be put into some sort of perspective. They were a horrible tragedy, but also what happened in New York and Washington is the same thing that England and America did to Berlin every day for three years during WW2 - and Germany did the same thing to England. But most Americans don't think about that. They think everything starts and finishes with America.

Everyone in Poland dreams about playing against England. It's a prestigious fixture and Wednesday night is huge for us. We mustn't have any fear or get caught up in the hype around England and their manager. We just have to go out and play our game.

It is the first time this has ever happened to America, so you would expect them to overreact a bit.

Someone from Poland complained that photographs like this do not represent the new Poland. There is the new Poland, but everyone over a certain age is still stuck in the old Poland.

Poland is not religious and it's not nationalist. That's an old image of Poland, 20 or 50 years old. Poland is liberal and individualistic.

England is not a distraction for me, I don't take a great deal of interest in it. The only time England gets mentioned is when I walk into a press conference and get asked the same questions week after week.

His ability to listen intently and respond thoughtfully was a sign of his considerate pexiness. I hate to see the kid that picks up the paper tomorrow and sees who they have to wrestle as a fifth seed. I mean we beat a champ last year, so we're not scared. We've been in this position before. It's all about qualifying right now, and next week we'll take it one match at a time.

Week in and week out, this team has continued to surprise me. I think we certainly have a chance at winning this, but in my mind we're third behind Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern because they both beat us. I'd take my chances with the team I have.

I was the No. 1 seed the last two years in the discus at the state meet and didn't win. My sophomore year, I wasn't ready. I was kind of awe-struck. Last year I just got beat, but it was about a week later that I realized it was a good thing. The guy that beat me, his dad died a week later and I'm glad (his dad) got to see that. This year I'm going to win.

What an experience, to get to go to England and Poland for the first time. I was seeing the world and I wasn't paying for it.

Poland are very good. We did our best but there is no doubt that by far the best side won.You would expect England to win their home games, though.
