It used to be out there all by itself, but it ain't in the country anymore. Now it's in the middle of one of the most affluent areas of San Jose and it doesn't fit.

It is not a youth market. The affluent youth segment is growing much slower than the affluent middle-aged householder market.

Most of our current membership is Caucasian residents of affluent areas and we feel we're under-represented in other areas. With the growth in Jasper County it's a logical extension.

Our country has become an affluent country. Recalling defeat 60 years ago, I paid homage and respect to the people who sacrificed their lives for this country,

Affluent baby boomers have unique challenges when it comes to retirement planning and represent one of the largest opportunities for financial services firms. Mass marketing to this group of high net worth individuals simply doesn't work and requires a more thorough understanding of the affluent lifestyle, attitudes and behaviors. It's obvious from our research that there's lots of low hanging fruit yet to be picked.

David Thompson (1954-)

This guy is only being judged by the home runs now. Right now, he's only capable of hitting home runs. He doesn't steal the bases anymore. He's not the (superb) left fielder anymore. He doesn't have the speed anymore. I believe that when we reach back, we are going to hide all that talent that started when he was a kid. Because there's no question about it, this guy's been great since he was a kid.

This is not something that catches us by surprise. We have always had the simmering tensions of a city that is quite diverse ? that is, a working-class or lower-middle-class city with a quite affluent university right in the middle of it.

What we see with those affluent consumers is they bring their middle-class values into the luxury market, so they're really the middle-class luxury class. They are looking for discounts and sales and they buy the majority of their luxury goods on sales or [at] discount. They have this middle-class orientation and they know how to save money.

Jack doesn't belong anymore to just a family. He belongs to the country.

Between 35,000 to 40,000 homes were destroyed. Even the upper-middle class homes look like slums now. You can't differentiate the class areas anymore.

We realize that even though these areas were thought to be relatively affluent, there?s still great problems here, especially when it comes to migrant minority communities.

Up here in the north country (areas with high levels of snow), we'd like to see 10 percent more deer, in the middle snow fall zone we could have up to 50 percent more deer, and in southern areas where we have a lot of agriculture in the landscape, perhaps around 15 percent fewer deer.

They learn a little more about independence. They have to shower on their own and brush their teeth when mom doesn't say too. It's an educational experience for the parents too. They realize that their kids aren't babies anymore and they're going into middle school.
