Follow the ball man. ordtak

en Follow the ball, man. There's only one ball. They can only give it to one of them at a time, so let's not get too far away from the reality of it all.

en It's the first game we've won that's been a close situation. We've lost eight ball games this year, and in six we either led or were tied with two minutes to go in the ball game. So, we had a difficult time finishing a ball game. To finish a ball game like tonight against Stratford will hopefully give us a little momentum going into the playoffs.

en I don't have no [expletive] regrets, ... I'm not going to sit there and watch him go ball one, ball two, ball three, ball four. I don't give a [hoot] if it was two outs. He was one hit away from disaster.
  Frank Robinson

en Kids don't care. Whoever can take them down the field and score and help them win ball games, that's who they will follow. In talking to one of our players, they said, 'Coach, this ain't no church league.' We're trying to win ball games, and whoever can get the job done and do the best job is who this team will follow.

en That six really caused a big problem, the ball change really made a big difference. They got a harder ball and the ball tends to do a lot more when it's a bit newer and they had the advantage but having said that we are capable players, we cannot say because of the ball we did not win, New Zealand played good cricket as well, you have to give them credit.

en That is the key. The toughest thing sometimes is getting that ground ball, and they seem to get the ground ball. They might give up a hit. They might give up a walk. But they finally get that key ground ball when it's time to focus in. It's a good thing.

en A lot of people were having bad first touches and just not combining well. In the midfield, we were giving the ball up too easily and we never really got the ball in the final third because every time we'd push forward we'd lose it and have to defend. We just couldn't complete five, six or seven passes and open them up. We'd get one or two and get in their defense and just give the ball back. They didn't really pressure too hard. We were just giving it to them.

en She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. We always look to get Ronnie the ball. He's the leading scorer in the SEC, so we definitely feel like we should give him the ball in crunch time.

en I find it staggering that Dave mentioned time-wasting when their goalkeeper [Neil Alexander] was taking 15 minutes over every goal-kick. I wish our ball-boys would give us the ball quickly and take ages to give it to the opposition, but they don't change for anyone. I don't like gamesmanship, and it's not what I'm about. We want to beat teams because of our merits.

en I guess it's part of a person's instincts. If they want to hustle after the ball, if they're going to dive on the ball or they're going to give 110 percent all the time, that's probably within the individual. And it really doesn't take a lot out of me, because I'm so used to doing it, and I want to get the job done and I always want to do the best I can.

en (Our) thinking was since they (Colts) had all of their time outs, taking knees would give the ball back to them. Besides, how often does Jerome fumble the ball? Almost never. It was just a crazy thing.

en They run a lot. They give that ball to No. 21 – Maurice – all the time. They're not too much of a passing offense, really. They run a lot of little slants and hitches. It's pretty much going to be a physical game this weekend with them trying to run the ball down our throats.

en You don't need to get up and toss the ball to a guy. You don't need to get up and point the ball in a guy's face. You just get up and go back to the huddle. Give the ball to the official.

en I think the hardest to replace has been Johnny Collins. He was great to play with. You could always rely on him to be available for a short pass, allowing you time to clear a ball. He would never give the ball away.

en If you were in a skid, Pedro would come in and stop the bleeding at times. He can give you a boost when he goes out there because you know he wants the ball every time. Every fifth day he's asking for that ball, and he's such a competitor, and you play so well behind him because he just breeds that when he steps on the mound.
